Left my choices (#3 and #7) Good luck with tallying the votes and making your choice! I just went with gut instinct inspired by the title. . .

these are all very cool but I love #1 and #8. I like the menacing style of those two.

#1 and #8 were my favorites, but they're all great! It was a tough choice to pick just two! Any of them would be good book covers.

I didn't realise I could vote for more than one until I read the other comments. I voted for #8, but I also really like #1 and #3.

Sue Bursztynski said...

I went for 3 and 8. I liked 6, but it had no circus theme to it.

PS I'd do something about that blue L.X Cain on 8, if I were you. It merges with the blue background.and perhaps whichever cover you choose should have some blood on it, given the title. At least a colour in the title?

I voted, but I feel like I shouldn't vote because I don't normally read this kind of fiction, so I'm unfamiliar with what makes a book in this genre have a great cover to go with it.

Well, I hope this all really helps steer you in the right direction.

Voted for two of them, but the first is my favorite.

I really liked 1 and 6. Hope the survey helps.

I love number 6!

Holy crap, some of those are creepy!

There's a certain difficulty in choosing a cover without having read the book. Both #1 and #3 have the image of the lightning bolt striking the big top, but the presence of the creepy clown in the background on #1 sets a completely different mood from #3. And while I think #6 is nice, it lacks the circus motif that seems to be central to the story. I really like the bare minimalism of #4; it reminds me a little of the demon face that flashed on screen at times during The Exorcist, but it may be too stark. Hmm, choices, choices....

I had no trouble choosing a fave: definitely #1 though I might get rid of the clown at the top and just have that circus shining in the distance like a beacon, a beacon that draws children in and never lets them go. Even with the clown it's still my favorite cover.

Not my usual choice of reading material, but the cover often sells the book for those who are drawn to the genre.

Three and six, and i picked them before i read any comments, so that was my actual gut reaction.

#1 is the one I like. Very spooky and evil.

cleemckenzie said...

I chose #6 and #8. It's hard to do this because #1 is also great and so is #3. Sheesh. I'm beginning to like them all.

Elizabeth Seckman said...

So many excellent choices!!!

Chrys Fey said...

Gosh, they're all good but I voted for 4 and 8. :)

These covers are amazing! I ended up voting for #1 and #8. I really loved the menacing feel of those two!

I'm loving a lot more than two...so I will say #1 & #4!

#2 seems like the obvious winner to me. These other commenters are crazy. ;)~ That was super fun!

Julie Flanders said...

The first one is my favorite! They're all great so it was hard to pick a second but I went with #4.

Ravyne said...

All of the covers are great, but #2 and #8 were my favorites. I don't like clowns and even if there are clowns in the story, I wouldn't buy a book with a scary one on the cover. I would just pass it by. I look forward to which one you actually choose! ~Lori~

I like #1 best but wish the clown looked less stylized and a bit more realistic while maintaining the menacing feel.

Beverly Stowe McClure said...

They're all great. I voted.

T.F. Walsh said...

Voted. Love all the covers actually:)

Dianne K. Salerni said...

I voted for #8, although I might re-think #1 if, as some people have suggested, the clown face was less prominent.

Denise Covey said...

Some pretty fabulous covers, Lexa. I adore #6 and #8, but voted for #6.

Carol Phipps said...

Great covers, but I think #6 and #8 are the best, so I chose those.

Inge H. Borg said...

Lexa,
I like #6 with #8 most favored. The latter seems to get a lot of nods here.
Good luck with the cover choice - and your new book.

J.H. Moncrieff said...

Wow, this is a lot of fun! Cover #1 BY FAR!

It's awesome. Who is your cover artist?

Stuart R. West said...

Lexa, I like #3 and #8. Sometimes less is better when it comes to horror. But good job. Actually, I think I would've liked #1 the best (suits the story the best), except I really don't like the clown illo. For once, I think a creepy clown photo might work better.

This is so much fun- and super hard! So many great covers to choose from. I am wavering back and forth between 1, 5, and 8. Hmmm... I can see why you wanted to have people vote!

Can't wait to hear the results.

3 and 8 are my faves.

Cathrina Constantine said...

I like #1 with the circus tents and the scary clown, which goes well with your short blurb.(BTW-clowns scare me) And the brighter one #5, although, I liked the words and the flags it would've been perfect to have a circus tent somewhere in there too...

I like #1 the best. Creepy and menacing, and I like the colors. My second choice would be #8, but I'd like it to have red in it somewhere for the blood in Bloodwalker.

Heather M. Gardner said...

HATE CLOWNS!

#1 and #8.

They are all awesome though.
Great job!

I liked he #6. Although the story involves a killer who is a clown, the concept is about the "Blood Walkers;" a coven of (Skirlish?) women. It really is their story, so seems fitting to me that they'd be on the cover. I like that they are shadowed and hooded; very mysterious, which is also fitting for the entire storyline.

I liked 1 and 2. Great info about covers, Lex!

Michelle Wallace said...

So many creepy good covers! *shudders*
I voted for #3 and #4.

Martin Willoughby said...

Creepy covers. 3 & 7 are best, but I think #7 is the best of all.

Unknown said...

Ooooh, this was tough, but I absolutely LOVE #8--creepy AND clever use of a tree limb!!

Unknown said...

One suggestion--give the moon in #8 a reddish hue = more ominous and a "blood" tie-in to your title!

kjmckendry said...

I like #1 and #8 the best. Good luck deciding!

Cathy Kennedy said...

Lexa, I only voted for #8, but I also like #6. I'll be eager to see which wins.

Susan Bernhardt said...

I chose 2 and 5. It was fun picking two covers. Lexa, your story sounds exciting. Best wishes. When is it coming out?

I had such a hard time choosing! You have some wonderful cover designs here... I actually chose 6 and 8.

Anne R. Allen said...

Wow. They're all good. I liked #4 and #8 best. #4 is very creative and stands out because it's so different. And there's nothing as scary as an evil clown. :-)

Ruth Harris said...

IMO all the covers are good. Don't think you can go wrong with any of them but my vote goes to #4. It really pops, will draw attention and work well in thumbnail. Definitely not the same-old-same-old.

However, if #4 turns out to be TOO different for readers, you have excellent fall-back choices.

#4 is the top!
