Celebrate: Progress & Freebies!

Happy dancing
to celebrate a great week!
(Especially after the last
yucky week.)

This week I'm celebrating:

1)  The Evil Spammer is gone!  I closed the linky about 10 days ago but the spammer continued to post.  Argh!  However, whatever cached site the spammer was using must have finally updated to show no sign-up window.  The spammer disappeared last Sunday.  For a moment I thought maybe he/she/it had stopped spamming people with sex links out of respect for the Sabbath. (lol!)  But Monday was clear too.  Then Tues. Then Weds and Thurs. And now today is spam-free too!  I'm thrilled there aren't 30 spam links I have to delete from the master list every day!

I've decided not to re-open the linky (for a while anyway).  I'll have to input people manually, so I'll be changing the main Celebrate page to show my email and instructions to write and ask to be put on the linky.

2)  I finally finished my short story revision and sent it off to my group!  Once I get feedback and edit, I'll publish it -- I'm so excited!

3)  After changing header banners on Twitter every day for weeks, I finally found one I liked. (Silly thing to obsess over, but I'm weird like that.)  I'm starting to enjoy interacting on Twitter and have reached 875 followers.  Not a bad start!

4)  I'm doing a good job organizing a blog hop for May 30-31 (more on that next week).  I'm reading/reviewing books for other authors.  I'm making promos for my books and beginning to schedule what, when, and where I post.  It's hard to keep up with social media, and I need to be more organized about it.

How do you keep your social media things organized?

My kind and wonderful co-hosts of Celebrate the Small Things are:

I'm glad the spammer went away.

Is that the same "Spam" that Lady M was having a bit of trouble from???
Hope that you are well dear Lady Lexa...
and a better month (of May) to you as well....

So happy the spam people bit the dust. This is one site I really enjoy. Yes, social media can be time sapping, but enjoy.

I wish spammers would offer stuff, we might actually need. If you wanted the stuff they offer you wouldn't get from a questionable comment randomly inserted into post... like your readers are thinking... "hey you sure need some porn" oh here is some... thank you, but no spammers!

Thanks so much for the helpful advice, Lexa.

I keep my social media 'organized' by doing the following: my blog is for writing; my Facebook is personal. That's it.

Looks like you've had a good week--good riddance, spammers!

I find that the spammers come and go and then come back again and they have friends. Sometimes I just want to go back to pen, pencil, and paper.

Except for the blog and Facebook, I've limited my social media stuff. It's just too much and doesn't leave me time to write!

Thank goodness the spammers are gone. It was wise to close the link. I look forward to your upcoming blog fest!

Woohoo! No more spammers!

Way to go with your short story and with twitter - that's a lot of followers! Very cool!

I'm still working on managing all the social media. Let me know if you find a formula that works!

Hooray for foiling spammers! And getting a story into the final phases! May your weekend be as good as your week was.

Oh so glad you booted that spammer's butt out of your site. I am just on my blog and Facebook so...I don't do much organizing:) Have a beautiful weekend:)

You are so very kind. Thank you so much, Lexa.

That spammer sounded awful. Thank you for seeing this through. I got spammed once too during the a-z. Awful, nasty stuff, and I wonder if it was related. Anyway...gone now, and good riddens! Have a nice weekend!

Your post made me smile. And laugh! I'm glad you got rid of the spammer. Congrats on your short story!

Looks like we're doing similar things at the moment! I'm working on a novelette which is a prequel to my full-length debut novel being released in November, and starting on a marketing plan, etc. How do I keep social media organized? Trying to perfect that myself - I'm not organized at the moment, LOL!

Glad the evil spammer is gone! That must've been really annoying.
Awesome you finished the story.
I'm celebrating a full day away from the Internet yesterday after the Challenge. It was awesome.

Yay for the end of spammers!

Your accomplishments make me feel like a slacker. Do you sleep? I can't wait to read the short. It's on my to-do list for this weekend. ;)

I hate it when I get spammed. I sympathize with you and hope the spammer stays gone. Congratulations on your progress and all the best with getting your story published. I fuss over my Twitter banner too. It is so annoying when it doesn't look good. As always, wishing you the best!

Hi Lexa! I've been gardening for the last day or so - late hopping. Looks like you've had your hands full... and loads of of fun on the way (smile).

875 Twitter followers!! You must be a good weird, (smile).

Thanks for slaying the dragon-spammers!! I knew you would.

["How do you keep your social media things organized?"] This may sound crazy but I still rely on steno pads. One for each media. As soon as I decide what to name a folder, file, or document, I mark it off the steno list.

Ooh, that short looks scary! If it is indeed the cover you show to the right. =)

Yay on getting your revision done!
And good job getting Twitter off the ground. It's a strange format for me, and I've struggled with how to make better use of it.
Cheers to you!

How do I keep my social media things organized? Uhhh, who says that I do? A lot of times, I feel like I'm just swinging a hammer, Whack-a-Mole style. I keep up the best I can and hang out wherever the mood suits me.

So glad you had a better week and that the spammers are gone. Yeah! :)

My comment just disappeared as I was typing it - on my phone so I applogize if this is a duplicate . Glad your spammer is gone. I don't really know how to keep my social media organized which is why I'm always missing out on the best tweets and Twitter conversations. I need a basic, beginners 101 course for social media, especially one that covers Twitter and Instagram. Do you know of any?
Congratulations on your short story.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Aw, won't you miss the spammer? ;)

Unknown said...

awesome, you're super productive! Can some of that rub off on me?? haha. As for organization, oh, it never ends well. I always say I will be crazy organized and I wind up scrambling for everything at the last second (though I do find good old fashioned lists on paper help me a lot)

Elizabeth Seckman said...

Glad the evil spammer is gone. Best of luck with the edits, the blog hop, and the social media. If you get it all figured out, let me know. I never seem to have the right balance. Sigh.

Heather R. Holden said...

Oh, congrats! Glad that persistent spammer is finally out of your hair. And ooh, a blog hop? How exciting! Looking forward to learning more about that... :)

Unknown said...

Wow, you're busy! :)

Glad the spam-bot is gone, and congrats on finishing up the short story!

I'm not a social media whiz, so if you figure out a fool-proof way to do that, please share!

Congrats on the short story!
Social media? I'm still plodding along on FB and Twitter...

I put our home telephone on hold while we were out of the country for 6 months. When I got home and reconnected, by the end of the first day I had 25 spam calls! Yes. I mean these people were waiting for me all those months. I feel so loved.

Glad your spammers are GONE!

You've accomplished a lot lately. Glad the spammers are gone. Congrats on finishing revisions on your short story. Hooray for Twitter. Looking forward to your blog hop. I've heard of organized.

I seriously don't understand spammers - does it ever really work? My site gets bombarded every once in a while, too. I'm glad to hear they're gone now.
