Celebrate: Friday and Freebies

After last week's spam troubles,  I closed sign-ups to the Celebrate linky.  Because the sign-up window isn't on anyone's page, no one can sign-up at the moment.  No one EXCEPT THE SPAMMER!  Every day 15-30 new dirty links appear, and I have to delete them. It must be some kind of a spam-bot that has the link cached and circumvents the "closed" order with Simply Linked.

Since closing the sign-up didn't work, I'll re-open it soon, and I'll just have to get used to going several times a day to the master list and deleting things.

The rest of my week has been equally annoying and unsuccessful, so my celebration today is TGIF! And here's hoping next week is better. :)

Again, the last true Celebrate link is #57 "Carole Ann Carr." If there are links after that - they are fake names and will take you to places you don't want to go.

My kind and wonderful co-hosts of Celebrate the Small Things are:

Spammers, hackers, identity robbers have taken over and it is getting more invasive and frightening as time goes by.

Have a perfect weekend, Lexa!

Sorry you're having spam troubles. I had a super-high influx of visits from eastern Europe this week, so it must be some kind of special 'sweeps week' for spam. Have a great weekend!

There must be something in the air or the stars or somewhere, because I'm feeling very TGIF, too. Here's hoping for better things next week.

How frustrating! I wonder if those ppl ever get any new attention from that...seems more like a bother-everyone kind of thing. Sorry you have to go through it!

I've noticed massive hits from slimy Russian spammers on my blog lately. Never heard of them signing up on those link lists before, but of course they would. How annoying.

hate spammers, they ruin the fun!! and I hope your weekend is better than your week! Something must be going around b/c my week was strange too!

I understand your frustration!!! Have a better weekend!!!!

I give spammers the finger, we should go to their sites and pretend to want to buy something and muss up their hair and laugh!

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

That really sucks the spammers keep finding your list. I should go check the IWSG list, just in case...

So sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. If only there was a way to solve this problem.

Mean spammers!

And Foxy is so cute. :)

Did you try emailing the Linky guy? He might have another solution.

Lexa, they're just going to keep bothering you, and your time is valuable. I would just close the sign-up and just work with the names you presently have. Spammers need to be thrown to the zombies.

Thank you, Lexa for your kind encouragement.

Oh don't you wish you could get back at them like having their computer explode. I wish I knew more about computers to say how to fix this but I am lucky I know how to blog! Yes Thank God it is Friday! I'm with the squirrel

Bad spammers want to ruin something good.

I don't understand why they keep on and on. At first, I guess they think it's fun. Looks like it would get boring after awhile though. Maybe they'll give up soon.

How irritating. I hope next week it better for you!

This linky spamming is getting ridiculous! Please let me know if I can help. I've updated my post to let people know that the last link is Carol Ann's...I cut and pasted your little paragraph...hope you don't mind. Here's to next week being better for you! Enjoy your weekend Lexa!

Now they're spamming Linky? Geez. Is anything sacred anymore?

Have a great one!

Your are doing such a great job keeping this going. Here's my pat on the back for what it's worth. And celebrating Friday is perfect.

stephen Hayes said...

Spammers are the worst! But like you say, at least it's Friday. Have a terrific weekend.

messymimi said...

Not being a tech person i have no clue if this would work, but could you just delete your whole account that you use for the links, and create another, and get things going again that way?

klahanie said...

Hi human, Lexa,

As you might of figured, my alleged human and I do not get involved with all these kinky linky thingys....

Still TGIF and Lexa, you are a superstar human.

Pawsitive wishes,

Penny :)

So sorry you keep having to deal with the spammers. Someone needs to invent a computer with built-in spam detectors so if anyone tries to send spam, the computer implodes. I hope you have a great weekend, and that next week is much better for you!

Anonymous said...

Maybe Linky should add a captcha. Spammers stink.

Cathy Keaton said...

Sorry to hear about all this awful spam. I hope you can figure out a way to not have to deal with it anymore. That's really horrible.

Dixie@dcrelief said...

The linky tool app has suggestions; maybe they could help with more code.

Either way - I still love this blog hop, and enjoy your weekend!!!

What a bummer about the spammers. It's such a childish game they play with grown-up headaches for those they spam.
Hopefully it will get taken care of soon.

DMS said...

So sorry they are still spamming. So crazy! Hope you are having a nice weekend and that your week ahead is better. :)

I lovve Carole's blog. Still it's sad that everyone who follows is a spammer. Must be difficult to get up in the morning with a job like that.

Elizabeth Seckman said...

I never thought of spammers signing up. How sad. I get all kinds of weird spam comments on old posts. I try to delete them, but it becomes a time waster.

Hope next week is smoother!

Maybe we need to trash this linky and start an new one? Sounds like a right pain at the moment. :(

too bad about the spammer issue. I like your freebie idea, but I don't have any freebies to offer right now.

What an annoyance. I can't stand spam or spammers. I hope things are getting better.

Gah! So annoying! You're a saint to continue being the gracious hostess. So I'm celebrating you!! :)
