Celebrate the Small Things
I hope the holidays have treated you well so far. I know I've had a good time!
This week I'm celebrating:
1) Bunches of fabulous people posted their holiday good wishes to me on this blog and on Facebook. I'm new to FB (better late than never, right?), so this is my first Christmas over there. I was amazed by the feeling of goodwill and community spirit. The beautiful pics of people's families, lovely Christmas decorations, and funny or touching clip-art has made me happier than I've been since I was a child!
2) I'm doing pretty well on my "To-Do" list. I'm only feeling a little behind instead of the usual Holy-crap-I'm-so-behind feeling!
3) My hubby was home on Christmas day, which is rare since he works in a hotel. I made a lasagne, and we watched "R.I.P.D" starring Ryan Reynolds (it was disappointing) and "Pacific Rim" starring giant monsters and robots (totally cool!!). He and I had such a fun time!
Have you recently watched any movies that you really loved or that really disappointed you?
This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is follow the link and put your name on the Mr.Linky list, and then be sure to post every Friday about something you're grateful for that week. It can be about writing or family or school or general life. This is the funnest and easiest blog hop ever!

A little behind is definitely better than a lot behind! It's far too easy to get overwhelmed by those pesky to-do lists, I think. Good luck staying caught up with yours!
Also, glad to hear that you've had a good holiday. Hope all continues to go well for you in 2014!
I don't know where I'd be without a to-do list. I'd forget everything! I feel great every time something is completed and crossed off the list. I'm new to Facebook too (2 months or so), I find it quite odd yet entertaining, catching up with people I haven't seen in 30 years. The novelty is starting to wear off for me at the moment though.
I'm glad you got to spend time with your hubby on Christmas day :)
Do enjoy the run up to the new year.
2014 will be filled with wonderful new adventures :)
Happy holidays and have a wonderful New Year!
Entered -- thanks again for participating in #Tismoreblessed 2013, Lexa! PACIFIC RIM was good; I think we'll skip RIPD.
Love the giveaway idea. Thank you for sharing.
Glad your husband was home so you could enjoy Christmas Day together!
I'm also giving away two copies of my book today. :-)
My favorite Christmas movie would be... While You Were Sleeping.
How fun! Thanks for the giveaway. My favorite holiday movie is probably Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
So glad you got to have your husband with you on Christmas and your day sounds like tons of fun!
Happy Holidays!
Jess
Glad you had a nice Christmas. Sounds like it was pretty low key.
RiPD was okay. The biggest problem with it was that it seemed like MiB twist but not as good.
Entered your giveaway, with the setting in Egypt, I'm hooked. Wishing you the best in the new year!
Milo's giveaway hop is just awesome!
Glad you had hubby with you on Christmas and that you had a great time. I wish you a wonderful new year, Lexa :D
So glad you and your husband got to enjoy Christmas Day together. I want to see Pacific Rim - I love Idris Elba!
Happy New Year, Lexa! :)
Oh, and I meant to say before - I LOVE your Christmas tree header. So pretty! Made me smile as soon as I clicked on your blog. :)
I was extremely disappointing in The Butler. Very little of this was factual and it was all a very heavy-handed civil rights morality play. And the presidential cameos were dreadful, except for Alan Rickman's Reagan.
Sorry we do not do Face-Book dear Lady ... a very merry Holiday Season...
I'm smiling because you got to spend time with your husband. I love when couples spend time together. Happy New Year.
I'm getting ahead of myself. 2014 be filled with fantastic things, such as more good times with your husband.
Glad you received the gift of husband-time this Christmas!
My favorite Holiday movie is the 1994 film version of Little Women. Oh, and Edward Scissorhands, although can that be considered a Xmas movie?
Twelve Years a Slave was incredible (sad, yes, but so well done)
That's too bad RIP wasn't as good as you hoped; I was looking forward to it myself! Glad you had a nice night with your husband :)
Over Christmas, we watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation for the first time ever. It was supposedly the best of the series -- but it was SO not. There were a couple of good lines, but the rest was very disappointing. In fact, I think the best part was watching a very young Johnny Galecki make faces and expressions that someday would make Leonard Hofstadter so lovable in The Big Bang Theory.
And you're on FB now? Did I know that? I forget. Anyway, entering your contest ..
Sad to hear R.I.P.D. was disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing that. Bummer.
You know, I think this year I'm thankful for social media, too. I've had so many pleasant exchanges with great people...
I wanted to watch R.I.P.D. but now...We watched Admissions with Tina Fey and Paul Rudd and it wasn't what we expected. A disappointment too. I did see the new Hobbit movie and totally enjoyed it! Yay! It's always great to spend quality time with hubby, sounds wonderful.
My fave holiday movie is the original version of A Christmas Carol, although the animated version with Jim Carey or the 80's version with Bill Murray. We also love A Wonderful World and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Quite a lot really. :)
So chuffed you're enjoying Facebook, and have enjoyed Christmas. FB's the only connection I have with my SKYPE phobic family. :(
I quite liked RIPD, but loved Pacific Rim! :)
Happy New Year (almost!) Lexa X

I've watched quite a few movies lately, mostly disappointing obviously...
I finally caught up with Harry Potter, and was bored to tears by Deathly Hallows part 1, while I thought part 2 was ok. I never read the books, and was never a big fan of the movies.
'Gravity' unfortunately didn't leave much of an impression, even though I love Bullock in anything she does. 'Insidious, chapter 2' was a nice (and scary) surprise that tied in nicely with the first movie.
Have a wonderful New Year's Eve!
Last movie I watched was Captain Phillips, which wasn't bad at all, but I think I expected too much and got disappointed. Best movie I saw in 2013 was Enemy.
Glad you got to spend time on Christmas with your hubby. Have a very Happy New Year!
The Hobbit was okay--I like Martin Freeman. But this series isn't as epic as Lord of the Rings.
Some of my girl friends wanted Pride and Prejudiced for a movie night. Still not a Jane Austen fan, but Matthew Macfadyen definitely made it more than tolerable.
I love couples movie night. I'm experiencing it vicariously through your post...LOL. Happy New Year!
Glad you were able to enjoy time with your husband this year. It is great when people spread the Christmas cheer, especially publicly so everyone can enjoy! Have a blessed new year. http://www.nancylarondajohnson.com
It's great that you and you husband could spend Christmas together. :) I seldom go to the movies, but the sons and grandkids were going so I went with them to see the second Hunger Games movie, and loved it.
Have a Happy New Year.
Sounds great. Have a happy new year.
I am glad your husband was home on Christmas, that's lovely. Happy New Year to you. Thanks for celebrating with me this year and here's to 2014.
Love the very Christmas-y blog header, Lexa!
So glad you and your husband got to spend Christmas day together!
sweet that you had hub home for a cozy christmas! yummy lasagne! and i was disappointed with RiPD too, it was a lamer men in black...
here's to crossing more off the to do list in 2014!
Looks great. Will do some tweets to spread the word. Happy New Year, Lexa.
This looks great! Have a great New Year!

We watched Pacific Rim too. It was better than I thought it was going to be. They had some awesome story ideas.
Hi Lexa,
It's so nice to know you got to spend Christmas Day with your hubby. I do so wish that your New Year is a peaceful, hopeful one.
Gary :)
I'd love to see Pacific Rim.
I don't do Facebook anymore, but I love what I'm seeing on Twitter and Instagram.
Happy New Year.
I haven't watched the movies yet. I should catch up with my movies this holiday season. SO glad you and your hubby had a wonderful time. :)
Happy New Year!!
Hubby and I watch Elysium a few days ago. Seemed like an action packed cartoon to me. Kind of disappointed.
As for being thankful for small things... visiting with an elderly lady and listening to her stories of growing up in the Virgin Islands during the 1920s. Wonderful stuff.
Thanks for all your support this year!
Happy New Year!
Biggest and Bestest wishes to us for 2014!
Heather
Happy New Year Lexa!! And welcome to FB! I'm sporadic on it, cuz it can be such a time-suck away from my writing focus, but it's fun! Sounds like you had a nice mellow Christmas. We did too. As for movies, I just saw Desolation of Smaug and loved it. Total roller coaster of action!
Happy New Year, Lexa! Did you find me yet on Facebook? My head is still in a cloud after all this crazy holidaying, but it sound like you had a great Christmas. Yay!
I really love your Christmas tree header, Lexa =-) And yes, I actually have watched some movies lately I really loved! It feels like movies had been dry for me for a while, but I went and saw the second Thor as well as the second Hobbit this month, and loved them both! That's always so excited to find new favorites. Wishing you a happy new year =)
Happy New Year, Lexa:) You're progressing so well on your to-do list.. congrats. Here's to us having an even greater year in 2014:)
Happy New Year Lexa!
.....dhole
