Dream Destination Blog-Hop

My Dream Destination is ...... Scotland!!

Eilean Donan Castle (Freepik.com)
Why would someone who lives in a place with sunshine 360 days a year (Egypt) want to go somewhere cloudy, misty, and rainy?  Because Scotland is so beautiful and steeped in history. There are gorgeous mountains, valleys, lochs (lakes), streams, and moors. There are ancient chapels, cathedrals, and castles.  I mean, come on. There are CASTLES!!

Culzean Castle (Freepik.com)
If you needed any cooler reason than castles (I don't!), Scotland is also the birthplace of Sean Connery.  Many of you may know him as 007, but I prefer to think of him as the father of Indiana Jones!

Happy Release to Julie & Lexa!!

A brilliant flash of light transcends through time.
Another freezes a cloaked figure within a frame of salty mist as waves crash against a rocky shore. Her harrowing expression shadows the beacon to a pinprick.

By the next blaze, she is gone. Only the lighthouse remains.

Hannah’s eyes blink in step with each heartbeat. Images of her deceased parents and Martha’s Vineyard explode like firecrackers inside her mind.

She shakes her head.

For weeks this eerie woman dressed in nineteenth century garb has been haunting my webcam, but tonight she stared into my soul.

Why? ...

Who is she? ...

Casting aside months of research on historic lighthouses, Hannah drives to the coast and boards a ferry.

What is the strange connection she has to this mysterious woman suspended in time?

Hannah finds out.

But, it’s not at all what she expects ...

Hannah unravels a century old murder.

In Egypt, the superstitious film crew sucks at finding her mom. When a hotel guest is killed, whispers start—the locals think their legendary Soul Cutter has come back from the dead. Élan's only ally is Ramsey, a film-crew intern, but he’s arrogant, stubborn—and hiding dangerous secrets.

Yep, Scotland is certainly beautiful! And I prefer to think of Sean Connery as Indy's dad too! Huge congrats to both of you on the release of your novels!

Scotland good choice. I visited, 20 something years ago, and it was beautiful. I went to Loch Ness and Edinburgh. Congrats and very best wishes to you and Julie.

I adore Scotland. If I could live anywhere in the world, it'd be in Scotland (preferably in a haunted castle -- haunted by ghosts that wouldn't kill me). I spent some time in Edinburgh and it was amazing, even though it was raining. SOUL CUTTER IS OUT!! How exciting!! Bought a copy on Amazon <3

Scotland is a great Dream Destination, though anyone used to 360 days of sunshine would catch a nasty cold within hours of stepping off the plane... :) I adore the British Isles and Ireland - the lush rolling hills, the stone houses, the ale!

Congratulations on the releases, ladies!
Lexa, you would so dig Scotland. And it's not just the castles. The churches are just as amazing. And walking the Royal Mile in Edinburgh is magical to say the least.
Just take a heavy coat or two, because at night it is COLD!

By the way, feel free to beat me senseless for adding an extra 's' to Soul Cutter

Big day for you! :-) Enjoy the celebration. I haven't yet been to Scotland either and would love to go because I spent a week in Ireland and it was incredible!!! Lots of castles too! And we caught a week with no rain! Amazing! Everything was sooooo lush and gorgeous. So you have to go. And it's Braveheart territory. Love that movie (not sure if it was shot there) even though Mel Gibson's an ass.

Congratulations on your release! I'm more interested in touring Ireland and England, though it would be nice to see Scotland too if I'm ever over there. One of my hiatused WIPs has a section set in Scotland, so it could be good for firsthand research.

Susan Flett Swiderski said...

What a fantastic choice! My father was born there, and even though I've never been to Scotland, something about that country tugs at my heart. Maybe it's the memories of the stories my grandmother used to tell me... maybe it's because I miss hearing their beautiful brogues so much. Some day... some day...

Good luck with your book!

LD Masterson said...

Great choice. I visited England once and took a day trip into Scotland. We visited - you guessed it - a castle. As much as I like looking at Sean Connery, I loved him as the voice of the dragon in Drangonheart. Whenever I read a book with a dragon in the story, I imagine Sean's voice.

Congratulations to you and to Julie on your release day.

Ava Quinn said...

Yay for fun blog hops and RELEASE DAY!!! Congratulations!

Oh, oh, I have been to Scotland and it is beautiful, and guess what (be prepared to envy me) I've met Sean Connery! Yep... I once worked for Selfridges in London on the perfumery section. He came in and asked about the latest men's fragrances. I ended up taking him around several other men's departments too. He was incredibly cool and a perfect gent. Happy dreams for years after that! :)

PK HREZO said...

Happy release day, Lexa!! How exciting, right?? Welcome to the world of published authors. :)

I adore Scotland. My mom had always dreamt of going since it's the motherland and I took her there about twelve years ago. We went everywhere and it's as gorgeous as you imagine. With ideal British hospitality of course. We stayed in a 13th century castle way up in the highlands for a few nights and it was so poetic. You have to go.
(kinda jealous of Shah above me getting to meet Connery tho...swoon!)

Congrats Lexa and Julie!

Oh yes, Scotland is definitely on my list. There's a famous castle on a loch I badly want to see, though I can't seem to think of the name. My hubby has been there for work and I was completely jealous. The accent certainly doesn't hurt, either.

Here's hoping both you and Julie rock the charts! And thanks for stopping by. I lived in Heliopolis for a year, learned enough Arabic to get around and thoroughly enjoyed our year, including the trip to Luxor. Hope you get to visit Scotland. It's indeed gorgeous, but try not to land there on a Sunday as it's all very, very quiet with most stuff closed.
