Congratulations to my friend Lisa
on her book release!

Celebrate the Small Things

This week I'm celebrating:
1)  Lisa Casian's release of Bloodrose.
2)  One of my awesome CPs just got the cover to her forthcoming book,  An Unstill Life, and I'll be revealing it on Sunday!  Yay!  I'm so excited for her!
2This week I managed to catch up on my entire to-do list for the first time in 2 months!  Well, my thrilling sense of accomplishment lasted for about a day before new requests for critiques came in.  Plus, I realized my own writing and revising are so neglected I've forgotten what my WIP is about. Oh, wait, I actually have TWO completely ignored WIPs.  *facepalm*
3)  Meanwhile, I'm doing my best to write good interviews and guest posts for other blogs, but they scare the crap out of me!  If you're a "writer" you're supposed to be able to do this stuff, right?  But apparently, I was absent the day the Writing Gods explained how to write clever, insightful non-fiction.
4)  And finally, after several spectacular cooking fiascos this week (for instance I oversalted the mashed potatoes and then tried to "fix" it by adding garlic, cumin, and lemon. Um...not my best idea),  I've been looking everywhere in my house and I can't find my brain.  If someone sees it, please persuade it to come home.  Either that or it'll be off-to-see-the-Wizard to ask for a new one.  *cue music*  "If I only had a brain..."

Anyone ever felt that their brain moved away and didn't leave a forwarding address?

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is follow the link and put your name on the Mr.Linky list, and then be sure to post every Friday about something you're grateful  for that week.  It can be about writing or family or school or general life.  This is the funnest and easiest blog hop ever!

I'd say my brain has moved away, too, but...I don't think I ever had one. XD

Anyway, congrats on catching up with your to-do list! Those things can get so unruly sometimes. Good luck with both the WIPs you feel like you're neglecting!

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the least....

Lisa's book sounds like a winner! And congrats on catching up with your to-do list. I wish I could say the same for mine.

Hahaa, I've done that with potatoes. Like the cover of Lisa's book and it sounds interesting. I find it hard to get involved with new wips when your head is spinning over the release of your book.

Don't let the guest posts and stuff scare you! Just have fun with them.

Thanks for having me! =) I'm with you with writing reviews. I hate them. =)

I thought for sure the book was going to be a romance based on the cover. I wasn't expecting dark fantasy. It's always interesting to see which way a publisher goes with the cover. Congrats to Lisa and good luck writing your blog tour posts, Lexa.

That book sounds pretty great -- but I would've led with the author bio. She sounds like a modern-day Xena.

Your mashed potatoes story cracked me up. When I first was dating my wife, Sweetie, I tried to make tacos for dinner one night and wanted to impress her by using some unusual spices. I opted for "sage," and tried to sprinkle just a little on the meat. The top came off the bottle, and the entire contents spilled onto the meat. I was able to get SOME of it off, but the meat for the tacos still kept a greenish hue to it, and to this day Sweetie grimaces when I mention the 'sage tacos.'

They'd have probably gone great with Lemon Cumin Potatoes.

Wow, life sounds a little hectic at the moment. And I've been there before where it feels like you're working on everybody else's story but your own. But I figure it's all learning experience that helps me improve, since I really do learn a lot from critiquing other people's work. Also, I may have seen your brain roll under the sofa. Might check there. :P

Congratulations to Lisa! It looks spicy. ;)

I hope you find your brain soon. When you find it, can you check for mine too? I regularly feel it's absence these days.

I would be celebrating big time if just for one minute my to-do list was empty! Congratulations to Lisa on her book.

Congrats to Lisa.

Non-fiction isn't easy.

I sometimes lose my brain.

Congrats, Lisa! Awesome cover!

Glad you're caught up on your to-do list--wish I knew what that felt like ;)

Congratulations to Lisa. Hope you book does well.

Wow, what's a brain? If you've come this far without it, then you don't need one, ha ha ha. It's great to help other people out and get all the experience along the way, but don't neglect your own work too much despite how busy you are.
The potato drama was hilarious, just throw everything in and all will be well, ha ha ha.

Congrats to Lisa! I've been becoming more forgetful lately too. You'll start feeling more like yourself when things start to slow down. Just enjoy this exciting time, and try not to worry.

Congratulations, Lisa. Your book sounds interesting. Best of luck.
Sorry you've lost your brain, Lexa. Mine's been missing for quite a while. Some day it may turn up. Or not.
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Lol. Sounds like you had a pretty interesting week. I would not have like to have been invited to dinner when those mashed potatoes were served. Congratulations on getting caught up.

Ever lost my brain? Try ever second day! And I have to say, I think your fixing of the mashed potato idea sounds inspired - but you say not! Shame! It's hard when the day job/ editing get in the way of writing isn't it. But you'll be back, I'm sure.

Plenty to be thankful for - perhaps your brain got mashed into the potato.

Congratulations to Lisa - I'm not judging the book by its cover, but what a great looking cover it is!

Enjoy your weekend :)

Congrats to Lisa - Bloodrose is a great title.

My brain and your brain must be off somewhere having a party together. :-)

What a premise, Lisa! Best of luck!

Interview used to scare me, too. You have to do some research (e.g. snoop around the person's blog), but Googling 'ice breaker questions' can give you some fun questions to ask. Another thing that can help is to have some unique kind of interview you do for visiting authors. One writer I know has them tell two true things and one lie and has the visitors guess. Correct guesses go into a drawing for a prize. Good luck!
