Celebrate: Bearing Gifts & Giveaways

This week I'm celebrating:
1) When my husband got home from a family visit to Cairo last week, he came bearing gifts! He gave me:
2) A new set of dishes that are orange and yellow and so very cheerful! (And in the kitchen, I need all the good cheer I can get.)
3) A bunch of velvety scrunchies for my hair that I haven't been able to find in our town.
4) A NEW NOKIA PHONE!! I've had a crappy Chinese one for so long that the depleted battery makes the phone shut off every time I answer a call. I can only text (which kinda suits hermit-like me anyway), but the new one is AWESOME!

He's definitely in my good graces at the moment! <3

What's the best present you've gotten recently?

Hooray for the new phone and new dishes! Every day is a gift as far as i'm concerned. That doesn't mean i would like an actual item to open, so maybe i'll get myself a treat and tell my Sweetie to wrap it and give it to me. Sometimes you just have to get creative!

Nice gifts to celebrate ( a Nokia phone and velvety scrunchies :) )

Glad you finally got a real phone!

Huh. Hair scrunchies. Now that you mention them, they seem to have gone out of style around here ('here' being my houshold). Enjoy your weekend, and all your gifts!

Lexa, what a sweet hubby you have! I always liked it when DH returned home with gifts, too. In early 2000, he worked 10+ hours from home. We only got to see him once a month and when he came home he showered me with lovely things and he always remembered to get the kids something, too. It felt like Christmas but the best present was him! Have a good weekend, my friend, and thanks for hosting CTST!

Awesome you got a new phone. My best present was getting back together with my boyfriend last May after breaking up for a few months. It was the best!

I love scrunchies although I don't wear them out in public. (I don't look good with hair pulled away from my face.)

What nice gifts! I love the idea of cheerful dishes to brighten up the kitchen. Your hubby sounds like a sweetie.

What a sweet husband!!!!!!! We all need something to cheer us up!

I'd have to think long and hard about a present he got me. Hmmm...sorry, I got nothing...

Yay for new phones. My new phone isn't fancy, but I love being able to take pictures with it. Colorful dishes are fun as well. My favorite plates have cats on them.

Lucky you with al of the gifts. Enjoy the phone!

I got this blind coffee tasting program for my birthday.
It's pretty cool and fun!

I envy the scrunchies. I once made up a batch of them for nine cats to use as cat collars. Each cat had his name on the tag. They mostly lost their scrunchies/collars within a few months but I still have one of them. Just not the cat who went with it. I need to get a couple to put on pairs of cats who look identical so I can tell them apart

Enjoy the new phone and the scrunchies. It must have been frustrating to have a phone that shuts off every time you answered it. Now you will wonder how you dealt with it.

Sounds like hubby is spoiling you, and so he should!

Yay for your very special gifts! So glad they brightened your day and your house. Hope you have a fun weekend and more good things to celebrate.

The best present? A canvas Christmas tree bag for our artificial tree. The box I'd been using to store it in finally disintegrated and CJ's fiancee gave me the bag for Christmas. I didn't know such things even existed.

How sweet! I love surprise gifts. I got a phone for Christmas. I had spilled Diet Coke on my old one and it would freeze at will and be off for whole days...also good for this hermit type, but the new one is great too.

Hi Lexa! Sean McLachlan here. I'm heading to Cairo next to week to work on a novel set there, and I was wondering if you had any recommendations of places to eat and things to see (beyond the blatantly obvious). I haven't been there since 1991 so I'm way out of date. I already have a hotel just off Tahrir Square.
Thanks!

What a lovely hubby to come home bearing such thoughtful gifts. Enjoy them all and your weekend.

Sue Bursztynski said...

Actually, my most recent impressive gift was an iPhone. I've been very happy with my little Nokia for years, but it wasn't a smartphone and the phone companies are no longer supporting 2G, so I told a friend I would have yo ship for a new one. And he said he had an older model iPhone I could have and I'm very pleased with it.

My other wonderful gift was a little bench top oven - after a long time of not being able to bake, a friend gave me the bench top oven she bought on an impulse and never used. Now I'm back to making cakes and cookies and bread - yay!

Woot woot! Those are fun gifts! A bit of cheer in the kitchen is always good. :)

The best present I got recently was my daughter's return from her year away in Argentina.

What thoughtful gifts. Enjoy your weekend.

Now that is a great homecoming. I can see you smiling.
I think my best gift is one I bought for myself: and iPhone. I'm enjoying it. Learning to text even. Some day I might live in this century. :) Have a lovely weekend.

What an awesome hubby :) I did things differently at Christmas this year and did Santa sacks for everyone including myself which meant I could give myself some gifts I know my hubby would not allow through the door normally - eg a vintage mincing machine!! However, those yellow and orange plates would be a real hit in our kitchen too so maybe I'll put those on my wish list for this Xmas?

Lucky you to receive so many nice treats! A new phone with a battery that works will feel so much more relaxing. Your new plates sound so pretty. :)

Great gifts, Lexa. I'm still enjoying some of my Christmas chocolates (and trying to polish them off before a new batch arrives for Valentine's Day.)

Oh this is fess up time isn't it? My girlfriend got me red boxers in slippery silk, so can't believe I'm blathering this... so embarrassing... Valentines is tomorrow, the rest you can guess. Go on laugh it up.

Shannon Lawrence said...

Congrats on the fun gifts. I haven't had a velvet scrunchie in so long, nor have I seen them for sale. But I loved them since they were gentle on my hair. It's too short now anyway.

DA Cairns said...

Those gifts sound so lovely and thoughtful...romantic even. I think brightly coloured plates are cool. I was happy for you until I read about you getting a new phone. Then I turned green. ha ha (I'm still battling on with my Galaxy 3.) A lovely, happy post. Keep spreading warmth and fuzziness.

Joylene Nowell Butler said...

Your hubby is obviously a dear, sweet man. My latest gift has been flowers from the market. Orchids. Stunning.

Jenny Baranick said...

The new phone is great, but now you have to actually talk to people!

LD Masterson said...

Your hubby picks great gifts. My best gift lately would be last night when my beloved spouse went out and picked up dinner so I didn't have to cook or go out.

J.H. Moncrieff said...

That's so cool about your retirement fund! Congrats. I'd love to know what inspired you to move to Egypt.

I do keep an eye on those things, but not as closely. I recently decided to open an American account rather than keep converting all my American royalties into Canadian dollars. Time will tell if it "pays off."

Best present I've received lately? A trip to Cuba for a romantic vacation. Just got back last night.
