Celebrate: Dirty House & Giveaways

Yesterday, my husband returned to our home on the Red Sea from a visit to his family in Cairo. He'd been gone a while, and I may have relaxed my house-cleaning schedule a bit... Alright, more than a bit. Yeah, I basically took a vacay from cleaning and wrote, revised and watched TV (without having to fight for the remote). But now vacay is over, and it's time to be an adult. Waaaaa!!

Here are some comics to show how I feel about cleaning:

My most hated chore is cleaning the stove. Do you have a chore you really hate?

I don't like cleaning the stove either (or the oven). I also hate folding and putting away laundry. I have no problem doing it, or hanging it out, but I can't stand the rest of it. But it all has to be done, doesn't it?

You're supposed to clean the stove?
I don't mind cleaning. Although bathrooms are lowest on my list.

I hate everything about cleaning. My sister once asked me why I had a house, since I hate housework! So I understand. Luv the toons.

Anything plumbing related. A lot of plumbing work is fairly simple, but it takes place in the most cramped, awkward, difficult to reach spots that are usually wet and full of cobwebs and who knows what. Bleah.

Hahaa.....LOL!!! Thank you for the Friday morning chuckles!!!! I actually like to clean. Weird, huh?

I hate all kinds of cleaning. I wish I could wiggle my nose or something and it would magically get done.

I hate those niggly, fiddly bits around the burners on the gas hob, and shifting the crumbs that accumulate in the toaster, and the windows: Oh HOW I hate to clean the windows. Have a great weekend, Lexa.

Luckily for me, my husband is very tidy and sorts things out even before I realise they need attention.

My general rule about cleaning is to never clean above my own level of comfort. If someone else has a higher level of comfort, they can clean to that level.

I hate vacuuming more than any other chore. Cleaning the stove is a close second.

That first gif is exactly what happened to me last weekend. I had 3 day weekend and I told myself to get the apartment cleaned. I did get the bathroom done, but that's it.

Since i clean houses for a living, i hate all housecleaning chores -- at my house! It's fine when i'm getting paid for it.

I don't want to adult.

Thanks for mentioning The Remnant's giveaway.

I follow my mother's rule for housekeeping. The house only has to be clean enough to be healthy, anything more is ridiculous. And remember no one ever eats off the floor anyway. As for the stove...I have a solid surface cooktop easy to clean and a self-cleaning oven that I just have to turn the clean cycle on.

Vacuuming. Vacuum cleaners hate me! Every cleaner I have bought over the years stops working after a short time. My current one works okay as long as I don't use the head. And it's a famous brand, supposed to last a lifetime, but has no contacts in this country. The web site is just a forum. :( I bought it at a small store somewhere in the suburbs, not sure if it is still open.

My stovetop needs cleaning, but my oven is one of those small bench-top models, so I just need to wash it with a soapy sponge.

Sorry you have so much cleaning to do! My least favorite chore is cleaning the shower. Ugh.

Glad you got some writing.revising, and relaxing done. Relaxing is so important!

Have a great weekend!

I don't use the oven so it doesn't need to be cleaned. I also hate the line of dirt that won't go into the dustpan.

I love having a clean house, but I hate having to clean it. Jamie is awful at helping, too, he's such a messy person. I'm terrible for putting it off until tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of housekeeping either, but when my husband is away, I actually clean a little more, probably because there is one less person to mess up my work. Most hated job: dealing with clutter. Other despicable jobs: washing the kitchen floor on hands and knees, cleaning out fish tank, changing over cat litter boxes. The cartoon gifs are spot on!

Meme 2 is SO me - I kid you not - I really do create an obstacle course for any would be burglar - especially if by myself!! I found another one that perfectly sums me up and have posted it on my blog this week. Great fun, Lexa - thanks for keeping us all amused - hope your husband sees the funny side too!!

Cleaning...what is that? Have a great week!

Oh, I LOVE dusting so much! I love cleaning every nook and cranny of sneeze-inducing furniture that always has some small knick-knacks on it that will break if I don't pay super close attention to where I'm sticking my feather duster. Or moving every little thing off bookcases and putting them all back. Yeah.... I can't understand how people don't tear their hair out regularly over dusting. -_-

Suzanne Furness said...

I'm with you on the whole cleaning the stove/oven - yucky job! I do quite like vacuuming though, I find it strangely satisfying to see all the dirt collecting in the cylinder!

Beverly Stowe McClure said...

Ha,ha. Great pictures. I say why clean house when it just gets dirty again? And there are more fun things to do. I mop when the cats' feet stick to the floor. :) Have a great week.

Jenny Baranick said...

A messy house is totally self defense. Awesome! Then, my family and I are very safe.

Cathy Kennedy said...

Lexa, cleaning the bathroom is worse house chore for me. It's the bending over the tub that drives me nuts and cleaning the toilet isn't my first choice of things to do, you know? It's ranked up there with having an enema things you hate but have to do sometimes. Great giggles! Have a good week, my friend!

Carol Kilgore said...

I hate housecleaning, too. I also hate clutter. I'm good about keeping the clutter out. Not so good with anything else. Hate cleaning the bathroom. Yuk! Happy Monday :)

Catherine Stine said...

I HATE vacuuming. The hubby does that chore. And yes, when he goes away I change mainly my schedule. I'm a night owl and he's not!

Julie Flanders said...

I hate cleaning the bathtub. Sometimes it gets to the point where I have to just do it or the whole place may end up condemned by the board of health. What I wouldn't give for a maid! I think if I ever become rich (fat chance!) the first thing I will do is hire a cleaning person.

L.G. Keltner said...

I never thought of having a messy house being a security measure, but the next time I don't feel like cleaning, I may have to cite this as my reason.

Unknown said...

Not a super big fan of cleaning either- I'm the worst at laundry!

Sheena-kay Graham said...

Ironing. Avoid it any chance I get. Oh and the shower. Love the cat with the plunger. LOL!

I love the memes! They reflect my sentiments perfectly.

I'm the same as yourself; get himself out of the house and I'm officially 'off' on leave, writing to my heart's content. But let him be back in here and I'm 'on' all the time.

cheerfuloptimistic said...

I'm not a fan of vacuuming. Having to move all my stuff out of the way is just annoying.

Though now that we've gotten rid of the old pain-in-the-neck vacuum, it might be more tolerable. Not that I'm going to do any soon. :p

J.H. Moncrieff said...

Cleaning the stove? Guess I should do that eventually...

For me, cleaning the kitty litter is my least favourite. But I love the cats, so it's a necessary evil.
