Celebrate: Surfacing & Giveaways!

This week I decided to put "life" on hold (online and regular) and sleep no more than 4 hours a night to devote myself to cover design for my next book, Coldest Night (the Alaska thriller). I've been trying to come up with a cover for 6 months but never even came close--sort of like writer's block except for art designers.

This week was one of those "I'm going to do it or die trying" weeks.

The bad news is my email is now overflowing, my updates and messages on Twitter and FB are way over 100, and I've got a sore throat.

The good news is I did it! I have 6 or 7 now, and with a few more touch ups and some font, I'll be ready to let my trusty CPs see them and give suggestions for improvement.

What about you? After I get some covers ready to go (probably in Jan), would you be willing to do a poll like I did for Bloodwalker and vote on your favorite covers?

Yes, I'll be happy to vote in your poll. I love that cartoon! I'm on the train home and surrounded by people playing with their phones, but then, I'm on my iPad. ;-(

Always happy to put my oar in as far as your covers go! But glad you've found something your happy with because I want to keep reading the book and you need to get new chapters up for me to read!

Cover design is really not my favorite thing. I don't have the skills to translate what's in my head onto a book cover.

T.F. Walsh said...

Can't wait to see what you create :) You're getting so good at covers... I know it will be awesome.

Cathy Keaton said...

Congrats on designing your book covers! I hope we get to see them here someday.

I wrote a ton last night and woke up sick from just TOO much at all once, so I know the feeling. At least I got my work done, even if I had to sacrifice my health for it.

Glad you finally got it. We did miss you on Wednesday though.

Cover poll away! Hope you make a quick recovery and have a nice weekend!

Take care of the throat. Would luv to vote on the cover even though I couldn't design anything!
Still have problems leaving comments with this open ID thing.

Hope your cold goes away soon.

Loved the cartoon. It's so true. Glad you made your goal, but I hope you get more sleep. It's really much healthier to sleep more. I need to take my own advice.

That's why I stay out of the cover creation process. LOL

Yay for figuring out your options. I'd love to participate in the voting. :) Sorry to hear about the sore throat though. I've got a bit of one myself. Hope you get to feeling better!

Since I picked "the winner" for your Soul Cutter design, of course, I'll be happy to do anything to help-promote-blog. Just give the word.
Now, do catch up on your sleep before you turn into a mummy! They are not supposed to sneeze, you know. And get better soon!

Can't wait to see what you've come up with for a cover! Hope you feel better soon :)

A poll would be fun. I'll vote.
Hope you're feeling better. Take care of yourself.

Sleep deprivation always gets me a cold. And I eat too much when I'm tired, so I get chubbier. But I still do it because sometimes things just have to get done.

I can't wait to see the covers. You should let us see them all and offer our two cents. :)

I'm sorry about your throat, but I'm happy for your cover break through. I will most definitely love to vote on options when you finish. Now, go get some sleep.

Suzanne Furness said...

Glad your time offline was productive. Having a choice of covers is awesome, I look forward to seeing them. Hope your sore throat doesn't hang around too long.

Glad you managed to get some designs down. I've never done my own covers, but I can imagine I wouldn't be very good at it.

Lexa, I'm glad to hear you're getting the artwork figured out for your book cover. Sure, I'd be happy to participate in the poll for your book covers! Make some time to enjoy this blissful Christmas season and thanks for hosting CTST! Have a good week, my friend! ;)

What the heck? Four hours a night to be MORE creative? Does that even work?

Nevertheless, no matter your method, I am excited to see potential cover designs for your new project!

And a poll sounds like a lot of fun. I really enjoyed seeing all the potential covers for Bloodwalker, back in the day, so it'd be cool to vote on Coldest Night, too. Congrats on finally figuring out some designs for this book!
