I love Christmas time and the holiday season! I love the lights and decorations, the sparkly trees, and the Christmas movies, and the special foods.  I'm particularly fascinated by gingerbread houses.  I've never had the courage to try one myself, but I love to look at them.

Here are some amazing

A gingerbread house? Are you kidding? I've only just made my first gingerbread, as biscuits(cookies in your language)and they taste okay, if too hard, but look dull, not one thing you can have as a gift. I have no skills in piping icing. I'm going to look for cachous this afternoon. Making gingerbread houses is an art skill I don't have, alas! Those in the pictures are most impressive

My one attempt at making a gingerbread house is not even comparable to those cakes... wow... Not sure anyone would want to eat them. They are just gorgeous.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Those are impressive! You should try one. It won't look as good as those, but it's fun to build and later eat.

The American image of Christmas has gotten so tied up with Currier & Ives, snow-covered trees and all that, it's hard to imagine it in a place like Egypt--or Florida or California, for that matter!

We tried a gingerbread house. Once.

Those last four cakes are awesome! I've never made one either - I find them rather boring to eat, I prefer chocolate ;-)

Those are amazing!!!! I can't pick just one!.

Have a nice weekend, Lexa.

The few gingerbread houses i've tried were from a kit, fun but not spectacular. Those are spectacular, and i have a special fondness for Snoopy and Woodstock!

I love the Snoopy one.

We make a gingerbread house every year. Most of them need to be condemned though. LOL

Oh my, they are all elegant and true works of art. I have made a few with my grandchildren and they are very messy and attract ants.

I love gingerbread houses. They simply make me smile and feel like a kid again. Of course, that's because I've never really grown up!

I'd LOVE to make a gingerbread house one day - I love baking! But I don't know if anyone in my family would eat it! Have a wonderful Christmas, Lexa :)!

I've never made one, but that replica of St. Basil's in Moscow is incredible.

They are all amazing! I have eaten but never made a gingerbread house. Now I'm craving it. Yum!

Have a great weekend, Lex!

Those are fantastic! I love to look at gingerbread houses, but as to making them...not so much. They usually come out looking as if a dinosaur stomped right through them.

I loved the gingerbread church with the onion domes--- if I were a gingerbread artist I'd love to make ones like that. They'd make great gifts for convents and religious institutions. But I'm better with cut-out cookies that my mother used to make every year. I'd put Star Trek uniforms on all the gingerbread men, and eat the ones with red shirts. But so far I haven't found any low-carb cookie recipes that work for cut-out cookies.

I like them all, but my favorite is the last one. It looks like a gingerbread mansion.
Hope all of you have a great week with lots to celebrate.
I've never tried making a gingerbread house either. I think it's way too complicated! :)

I made a gingerbread house with the kids a few years back. It was messy and way more fiddly than you'd think… Plus, by the time we were ready to eat it after Christmas, the gingerbread was pretty stale.

Sue Bursztynski said...

Ooh, suddenly realised one of them is Snoopy on his doghouse! Gorgeous, but I just couldn't eat a piece of art.

Beverly Stowe McClure said...

What adorable gingerbread houses. I like Snoopy best. I've never made one, but they look like fun.

Hi, Lexa!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!

LOVE these gingerbread houses.... AMAZING> I never made one, but I did bake gingerbread cookies ONCE.... what a chore.... and a sticky mess working with the molasses. But I do LOVE the taste...

Thanks for sharing these incredible creations!

The last one is my favorite, so grand! The third one from the top is a close second because it feels homey. I don't think I could ever make any of these either. Maybe I'll try my hands at a gingerbread man someday. Merry Christmas Lexa.

Cathy Keaton said...

Those last two gingerbread houses are gorgeous! I can't imagine making anything so amazing and then eating it. I wouldn't be able to destroy it.

Patsy said...

You're right, those gingerbread houses are amazing! I think the second to last is my favourite, but they're all good.

Thanks so much for mentioning my book!

shelly said...

I usually buy a the kits. Not this year though. Going on the 14th week with a broken humerus.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

That second last one is incredible! It's too good to be eaten!

L.G. Keltner said...

All of those gingerbread houses are incredible! I've also never tried to make one myself. I'm sure mine would end up looking more like a run down haunted house.

Rhonda Albom said...

My favorite gingerbread house is the one that looks like St Basils cathedral. I once built a gingerbread house from a kit. It looked better than it tasted.

Julie Flanders said...

Wow, those are amazing!! Definitely too pretty to eat even though I love Gingerbread. I think Snoopy is my favorite just because it's Snoopy. :D

Merry Christmas!!

Heather R. Holden said...

Wow, those gingerbread houses are beyond impressive. Can't imagine what kind of patience is needed to bring one of those to life!

J.H. Moncrieff said...

Those are amazing! I like the Kremlin the best, I think!

I love the Christmas season, too: lights on all the houses, decorating the tree, Xmas cookies & gingerbread men. Love these houses, they look so unique. For originality, I love the one with the onion spires. And, being a Snoopy fan, I love the doghouse with Snoopy on top. Hope you have great holidays.

Suzanne Furness said...

Aren't they amazing? They must take so long to make, it would be a shame to eat them! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for hosting our weekly celebrations this year, look forward to joining in again next year.

Joylene Nowell Butler said...

I like them all, but #2 is probably my favourite. The talent of some people makes me smile. Merry Christmas, Lexa.

Cathy Kennedy said...

Lexa, these are all amazing gingerbread houses! I always wanted to make one but never got around to doing it. Have you ever eaten one? Do people actually eat them? If so, how hard is the gingerbread? My favorite gingerbread house is the third one from the top - very pretty! I'm sorry for being so late to visit. Have a good weekend and God bless!

How fun! I have never made a gingerbread house, but I have seen a few in person. The ones you showed are beautiful. I think my favorite is the one that looks like a palace. Thanks for sharing. :)

I hope everyone has a fantastic, safe and healthy New Year! How are you celebrating? We always stay home and sip a little Emmett's Irish Creme when the ball falls down at Times Square. I would never go there and stand in the cold, though. Has anyone done that?
