Celebrate: Under a Purple Moon & Giveaways!

This week, I'm sort of celebrating:
1) The dentist finished the root canal (maybe), and on Sunday I go back for him to start the crown procedure (I think). Not really sure why it's taking so many trips and costing more than I thought. I think the lack of clarity is due to him explaining things to me while I'm on pain meds...
2) I've succeeded in getting my rights to SOUL CUTTER back from the publisher. (yay!) It's now no longer on vendor sites and cannot be purchased. (yay?) Due to legal issues/contracts, I can't put it back out until September. (I think) But when I do, it'll have an awesome new cover and be less expensive than it was before! (definite YAY for that!)
3) The U.S. presidential campaigns.  Seriously -- what is up with those?  It's like watching a terrible car crash in slow motion.

The one thing I'm sure I'm celebrating is Beverly Stowe McClure's new book!

No Love in the Garden of Eden...
Eden Rose has learned to deal with her mother’s criticism that she can do nothing right. What she can’t deal with are the arguments between her parents. To escape their angry words, she finds refuge in an old abandoned house. She always returns home, hoping her mother will love her one day, even though Eden’s not sure what the word love means.
Three other teens with problems also hang out at the Old House. Meeting Murphy, Toby, and Josh changes Eden’s world, and she begins to have faith in herself. Perhaps she can do something right, after all.
Thanks to the boys, she begins to understand the meaning of love. But will it be enough to save her broken home life?

Most days, you'll find Beverly at her computer writing stories young voices whisper in her ear. When she's not writing, she plays the piano. Her cats don't appreciate good music and run and hide when she tickles the ivories. She's sometimes called the "bug lady." She's not telling why.

I think the main thing I would celebrate about a dental procedure is when it's over. ;-) I wish you all the best with the revamped Soul Cutter, which I'm still reading(yay!)

Glad your tooth is out of pain. Last time I need a root canal I was fairly sure I bought my dentist a new boat. As for the book, I am confused by the legal stuff, but it sounds like you are heading in the direction you want to go. And the presidential campaign, it's odd looking at it from the outside. Love your description, best I have read. Lots of new books and free stuff. Thanks.

Glad you got your rights back!
Big congratulations to Beverly.
And you'll get one more trip to the dentist after Sunday to get the permanent crown put in. That should be it.

JeffO said...

Our presidential election right now is just as painful to be in as your root canal is to you--and we don't get pain meds!

My teeth are great, but my gums are over sensitive to plaque. If I ever lose my teeth it'll be because of bad gums, not bad teeth. My little sister has suffered so much with her teeth - they are so weak they powder at the back?! She has a lot of pain to deal with and cysts. Ew! Heres to a quick (and permenant) resolution to your dental woes!

Dah .... And congrats on getting your rights back on Soul Cutter. I'm excited to see the new book cover you design! The old one never did the story justice. If you would like a litte relaunch blog spot, email me. X

Congrats on getting your rights back! September will be here before you know it (yay?) Glad you tooth is not hurting and getting all patched up.

And congrats to Beverly.

I went through a similar "long time" dental procedure. What took two weeks with my former dentist, who retired, to complete years ago, took three month for the latest repair (and 3xs the money) with my new (and not improved) oral surgeon. I hope your dental work will be completed soon and will not be too painful.

What JeffO said. Watching the election this year is like enduring a long root canal without pain meds. Ugh. And yay for you getting your rights back. Soul Cutter 2.0 will be better than ever. :)

I despise root canals!!!! Wishing you luck with that.

Happy to hear about your book and a new and better path.

Congrats to Beverly, purple is my favorite color and her book sounds amazing.

So sorry you're having trouble with the tooth. Hope it's all taken care of with the next visit.

Glad that you're moving ahead with your book. It is a great story and deserves to be read. Great that it will have a new cover. Everyone should read the story. I think they'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Thanks for posting my book today, Lexa. I appreciate you constant support. You're the best. Thanks to all the congratulations.

Have a wonderful weekend, all.

Ugh, dental work. Hopefully you'll be coming to the end of these procedures soon and best of luck with it. Awesome news about getting the rights to Soul Cutter back.

Root canals and crowns are so expensive, but implants even more so! My hubby has had a few of those. Wow!
Glad you own your own property again!
Purple Moon sounds cool, congratulations Beverly!

I hope your dental woes are over soon. It sounds horrible. And fantastic news about Soul Cutter. I hope you can re-pub soon.

I've had a root canal which is now covered with a crown. It was expensive but not particularly painful, and I haven't had any problems with it in over a decade. I hope yours is a good experience.

Always make a dentist write it down, and read it when you are clear-headed before you agree to it. That's what i've figured out.

Good luck with your book!

Leandra Wallace said...

Ooh, dentistry work, never any fun. Hope it goes well! Sorry to hear about what's going on w/Soul Cutter. When you get a new cover, just let me know if you want help revealing it, would love to do that!

A word to the wise -- I don't make any comments about politics on my blog, to not alienate anyone. Even without taking sides, comparing it to a train crash may irritate people who like what's happening.

I'm glad the dental stuff is over! They can be a big hassle and expense for sure. The right thing must've happened for your book. When it's released again it'll be even more amazing. Hope you have a great weekend.

Ouch! I'm glad you're not in pain any more.

Loving the sound of Under a Purple Moon.

I completely loved Soul Cutter and am glad you've got your rights back. Looking forward to the new cover :)

Oh, congrats on getting the rights back to your book! I can only imagine how big of a headache that process must've been. Best of luck with the re-release, once you can publish Soul Cutter again!

Patricia said...

I have had two root canals. They each took three visits; one to the specialist that did the excavating and two to the dentist for the crown. And lots of money!

I don't understand legal stuff.

No one understands our presidential campaigns ever, and this time around it is worse than usual.

Have a YAY kinda week!

T.F. Walsh said...

Wow... such wonderful news about Soul Cutter... woohoo... once it has a new cover and lower price, it will sell insanely. Super excited for you. Hope the dentist ends soon.. geez I hate visiting the dentist.

Glad the tooth issued is resolved or almost resolved. Tooth pain sucks. Yay on getting your rights back. Looking forward to seeing the new SC cover.

Congrats to Beverly!

Best wishes for the tooth business to be over soon! Like Alex, I'm glad you got your rights back. I just finished reading Beverly's earlier book, Listen to the Ghost, which I enjoyed very much. From the blurb, Under a Purple Moon sounds equally engrossing.

Elizabeth Varadan, Author said...

And JeffO is so right, the election process going on right now is painful. For me, it's downright scary!

Tonja Drecker said...

Congrats, Beverly!
That whole tooth ordeal sounds terrible...hope it goes over quickly for you.
Congrats on getting those rights back! I've been hearing from several authors lately who've been irritated by their publisher's prices on their books and managed to get the rights back. Kind of makes one think.

Lexa, glad to hear you're getting the dental work out of the way. I hate having work done on my mouth! Just in case you missed it, I'm going to roll CTST in with my mid-week post with the April A-Z Challenge coming up until at least the end of March and after that I'm not sure how I'm going to work it in. Have a good week!

Cascia Talbert said...

I can't stand having dental work done. I saw that author featured on another blog earlier today. Good luck to her!

It seems there's a lot up in the air for you right now. Good gravy, girl. Let's at least get that dentistry issue settled and you off those meds.

Congrats to Beverly on her new book. It sounds like a sweet read for those young readers--like me. :-)

Congrats to Beverly and good luck with the root canal! Listening on pain meds is no fun.
