MMM: Horror Nostalgia 1950s

I learned to love Horror when I watched TV and movies as a child.  Even if you weren't alive when these came out, you've probably seen reruns of them like me.  Join my celebration of Horror Nostalgia!

Guest Stars: Ed Asner, Barbara Bel Geddes, Charles Bronson, James Caan, Bette Davis, Peter Falk, Jack Klugman, Jayne Mansfield, Steve McQueen, Bob Newhart, Robert Redford, Burt Reynolds, Gloria Swanson, Dick Van Dyke and Fay Wray.

“The Twilight Zone” (1959-1964)

a monster on the wing of the plane.

“H.G. Wells’ Invisible Man” (UK 1958-1959)

Narrator: John Newland
Guest Stars: Elizabeth Montgomery, Charles Bronson, Yvette Mimieux, Warren Beatty, Christopher Lee, Beverly Washburn, Robert Blake, Patrick Macnee, Cloris Leachman, Mike Connors, William Shatner, and Pernell Roberts.

Didn't know Shatner starred in a one Step Beyond episode. I've never seen that show. Absolutely LOVED Twilight Zone as a kid!

Those kinds of old movies like The Mummy and The Blob and Invasion of The Body Snatchers, used to run on Friday nights on BBC2 when I was a kid and I loved being scared by them. :)

Hell yeah, The Creature from the Black Lagoon is awesome! In Australia we had re-runs of The Twilight Zone in the 80's, but it had dated a bit by then... still cool though. Here's my MMM at Design du Jour.

They recently started airing the Alfred Hitchcock Hour on one of the cable channels that comes in (which I believe was the 1960's continuation of Alfred Hitchcock Presents) and I've been trying to record it whenever possible. I think Syfy network used to air the Twilight Zone weekday afternoons because I remember watching a lot of that show whenever I was home sick from school. So many great series!

I really miss Alfred Hitchcock, truly I think it was my first real step into anything creepy and there was no stopping me from there.

I LOVED the opening theme from the Hitchcock series. And I loved that the man himself did the intro for each episode. :-)

I'm afraid I don't remember most of those. I did see a few Twilight Zone repeats as a teen and I remember the Saturday Creature Feature but that was in the 60s. I'll be back tomorrow to see what the first decade of my life had to recommend it :)

These sound amazing, but I honestly haven't seen most of these. I'm only familiar with The Twilight Zone. I might have seen snippets of the others.

Nice list. I know them all except the last one. Never saw that. I have to say, that I became more of a fan of horror from the 70s horror films, some of which are very cheesy, while others will remain indelible classics. Writer’s Mark

I remember 'Nightmare at 20,000 feet!'

Alfred Hitchcock Present and the Twilight Zone are always watching when the reruns appear late at night. They're both so strange and can be creepy in a non-blood-massacre type of way, which I appreciate it. I had no idea this blog hop was going on, but it sounds like fun :)
