Celebrating the Small Things

Here's what I accomplished this week:
  • I finished critiquing a CP's novel. (And it was great!)
  • I'm continuing to critique 5 other CPs' novels. (Theirs are awesome too!)
  • I'm gearing up for my next round of queries.
  • I'm happy that the worst of the Egyptian winter is almost over.

Well ... perhaps the last one is a bit of an overstatement.  Compared to the US, Europe, and much of the world, Egyptian winters can't really be considered "the worst" in any way.

Basically, it's like this:

Summer in Egypt,
average temp 95°F, water temp 85°F

Winter in Egypt
average temp 55°F, water temp 70°F

Yeah, I don't really have much to complain about. :-)

How's the winter treating you?

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is follow the link and put your name on the Mr.Linky list, and then be sure to post every Friday about some small (or big) accomplishment for that week.  It can be about writing or family or school or general life.  This is the funnest and easiest blog hop ever!

I live in Texas, so while our winters aren't as mild as yours, they're not bad either.

Congrats on getting caught up on your CP reading! I need to make that a priority this weekend for sure...

We've had a few days' respite from the winter here in the north of Spain. It was actually warm and sunny enough yesterday for me to take a walk on the beach and go up on the cliffs near the lighthouse. The three-hour walk really cleared my head and got me unstuck on a problem I was having with my WIP. Now the bad weather is coming back. Ho hum.

You've been doing a lot of critique. Those pictures are really wonderful. And best of lucks with your queries!

Wow, that is a lot of critiquing! I just received some feedback from a few people, and now I've got to do a little revision.

And, um, I think it was 24F when I went for my walk yesterday, so, yeah, not much sympathy from me on your weather. :))

Gorgeous here in Wisconsin-sunny, plenty of snow cover, and 10 below zero F!

Good luck on your next batch or queries. I just got out my first ten, and I'm jazzed.

The UK is warming up, but getting wetter and windier. Might have to pop down to Egypt!

No complaints on the weather out here...nice variety, bit of super cold to let us know it's winter, and then moderate temps the rest of the season...Happy Friday!~

I live in Florida...a place called Vero Beach...so that probably tells you how "terrible" my winters are :D

Congrats on the productivity, as well!

Congrats on getting so much done! And winter in Egypt with those pictures made me laugh . . .that's not winter. I live in the Seattle area of the United States so our summer is 70-80 with some scattered rain showers, and our winters are 30s-40s with cloudy skies and sometimes days of rain. However, I've lived in this area my whole life and probably wouldn't know what to do with sun every single day.

It's summer here while all of you suffer through (or breeze through) your winters. And it's been the most glorious summer this year. 10 days of hot, sunny weather in a row. It never happens in Wellington....

The water is ninety degrees in the summer? That would be like taking a bath outside.
Congratulations on a productive week!

Yay for being a great CP! Obviously you are since you have so many novels on your hands ;)

I really can't complain here, but I still do. I'm a summer sun girl.

Happy Friday and weekend, Lexa.

I wouldn't mind it being a bit warmer. Today we had snow and the temperature is 27 degrees. Not much fun. But it could be worse.

Good luck querying!

Wow yes I would love to have those winter temperatures! You seem to have a lot of CPs to read - that is great!! Congrats on all of your achievements!

PS: I have nominated you for the Liebster Award. I will be posting more details about it on my blog tomorrow morning so be sure to check back! (www.jawardwrites.com)

I managed to fit 6 satsumas in my mouth in one go and swallow them.

I've also reviewed "Hansel and Gretel" already, but I won't review "Paranorman" because it's for kids. I think we both know what I'll think of that anyway.

Very cool to get some critiquing done. Congrats on that!

Winters where I live (Southern California) aren't really that harsh, either. It seems like it's very much the same climate where you live. I might hate how dry and cold is does get, but it's nothing compared to many other climates all over the world. We're lucky, I suppose. ;)

Okay, I've gotta ask, what's CP reading? Maybe I didn't get enough sleep last night ( and no I didn't) but I can't figure that out. But I'm happy that you're accomplishing your reading. That's no easy feat no matter how great a story it is.

mshatch said...

I think I like your winter better than mine altho we did have a warm up and a windy rain storm that washed all the snow away. Can't say as I miss it.

Chancelet said...

Thanks Lexa! I knew CP was something I knew way back somewhere in the recesses of my mind.

I'll take your winter any day! I'm freezing over here.

LOL on Egyptian weather! :-D Kudos to you for your productivity! I've had to be so productive at my day job I've nothing left for my writing, yay!!!!! :-/ Blah. I'll get it together, I'm sure. One day. :-D

Yay! You get the Critique Queen Of The Week award!
Weather-wise, you definitely have nothing to complain about!

You are definitely on a roll!I'm hoping to finish my beta reading this weekend, I am a bit behind. Good luck with your queries!

That's a lot of crit! You're way more productive than I!!! Way to go. It's currently snowing and freezing out so I'll take your winter any day. I'd love to visit Egypt some day!

It's still winter here but today the sun is shining and it feels almost like spring.

I love Georgia weather. Born and raised in Florida made for boring seasons so I love the seasons in Georgia.

cleemckenzie said...

Neither Egyptians nor Californians should utter a word about winter!

L. Diane Wolfe said...

Our winters aren't much different, although it was in the 20's this morning.

Sherry Ellis said...

Haha! Yes, I'd say you have nothing to complain about in the winter department. It was 8 degrees Fahrenheit this morning in Cincinnati,Ohio. And we have snow.

Tamara said...

I'm down in SE GA, where our winter is treating us about the same as yours is treating you. I LOVE it. We were outside in shorts last week. There's a lot of things I'm not overly fond about in Georgia, but the weather is not among them!

Congrats on getting so much done! Five CP's. that's a lot. Great job. :)

Now that's mean, I have to sit on my hands to warm them up just to type this comment! UGH it is so cold, and while I love the cold, I can't afford to heat my home to a temperature that allows me to stay warm. I'm moving!

I'd call that a successful week!! Kudo's! :)

Sounds like you've been hard at work! Congrats on finishing so much critiquing! :)

Congrats on your accomplishments. Living in the WI makes me miss TX winters.

Congratulations on your achievements! Winter has been surprisingly good here in Colorado. I'm hoping for some mega snow here to get us a little out of the drought. We've been 50's and 60's, so not so different from you. Only the water here is ice melt flowing out of the mountains, and NEVER gets that warm, even in winter, ha!

Haha, you can complain all you want, why not? Your pictures cracked me up. Plus they are very cool pics!

Congrats on such a successful week! Hope the upcoming week is a good one too. :)

Kim Van Sickler said...

Wow, you do a lot of critiquing! Your writing buddies are lucky to have you. My dad teases me about his tough Florida winters too. Not too shabby wintering in the Land of the Pharaohs.

Glad your winter isn't too bad! It has been chilly here in CT. Some snow today- but not much. Congrats on all that you have accomplished. :)

Congratulations on such a great week's work!

All the best!

Wow Egyptian winters sound like FLA winters. We keep going back and forth between cold and hot and I hate that the most. I'd rather have one or the other. I bet there's some nice diving off the Egyptian coast. :)

Breanna Teintze said...

I should mention that she is, indeed, the most awesome of readers for her CPs. And it was a dang good novel. (Yes it was. ;) )

The winter here has recently begun to break, as the days get above freezing for a few minutes in the afternoon. But it's supposed to be back down in the teens (F) and snowing again by Thursday, so we won't get too spoiled.

I want to visit Egypt so bad, but the political environment is just terrifying.

Anonymous said...

Best of luck with the queries:) Egypt sounds so nice... it's too hot here in Australia at the moment, but no floods or fires right now, so can't complain:)

r said...

0_o How do you read so many! My maximum is three before I start panicking! I love the pictures :)

Jocelyn Rish said...

Good luck with your queries!

The winters here in South Carolina sound about like the ones in Egypt. I've only had to put on a jacket a few days, and there have been plenty of days of sitting outside in short sleeves. But we do pay for it in the summer when it feels like you are melting into pavement.
