Celebrate The Small Things

This week I'm celebrating:

1)  People's donations floored me. Wow. WOW. WOW!  Seriously, I teared up and got all sniffly.  I'm so delighted, honored, and grateful for the generous spirits in our writing community. <3 <3 <3

2)  To promote Soul Cutter,  I'm finding pictures and adding matching quotes from the book.  I swear there are nice things---really nice things---that I don't even remember writing.  I'm like, "I wrote that? Really? ME? Dang, that's some nice stuff ... Are you sure I wrote that?"

Have any of you ever run across your own writing and been surprised---and proud---that it was yours?

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is follow the link and put your name on the Mr.Linky list, and then be sure to post every Friday about something you're grateful  for that week.  It can be about writing or family or school or general life.  This is the funnest and easiest blog hop ever!

I know what you mean about being surprised by your own writing. Every once in a while I read a sentence and think, "I wrote that." It's a great feeling. I'm really looking forward to the blog hop and I love how supportive the writing community is. It surprised me at first, now it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling--like I'm not alone.

Wow, so many prizes! Your blog hop is really taking off!

Also, so cool how your writing has been surprising you in a good way! I'm so cynical about my own work, I don't think I've ever experienced anything similar...

Great prizes! I have been surprised by my own work when reading through it. Warm fuzzy feelings!

Gotta love it when that happens! Rereading and being thrilled with how good it is…reading that this early in the morning makes me smile so big…so much to celebrate here! Congratulations!

Yay!! It's so fun to see all the prizes lined up like this. People absolutely rock! :)

What a fantastic set of prizes! Can't wait.

I know what you mean about being surprised by your own writing. I often go back and re-read things I abandoned half finished for whatever reason, and am often blown away by pieces that are really good. Unfortunately they are usually followed by writing so clunky you'd break your foot if you kicked it....

Hello human, Lexa,

Have you missed me? Of course you have...So many prizes, so many familiar faces of so many of my adoring fans. Party on and yes, even though I'd rather become friends with a cat than join a blog hop, I shall, as per usual, take the liberty of sharing your pawsting.

All the beast, um best,

Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! :)

Holy prizes! Look at all of them! So exciting! :)

Also- I loved the things you are happy for! It is always thrilling to read something that I have written that I am surprised by. :) I recently read some of my old writing and I was like- I wrote that? It is weird how that happens. :)

Can't wait to see the dream destinations.

Looks fun! And what amazing gifts/give-a-ways!

Cathy Keaton said...

LOL, I do that, too, with my writing. Well, my old writing that I've totally forgotten about and I go back to reread with the objectivity I didn't have back then. It's really surprising.

Good luck with the blog hop!

What a fantastic list of prizes. I'm going to have to choose my destination picture wisely. :)

I have the same experience when I read my own writing. It's wonderful to move through during editing and reach a passage or a scene an feel that it's expressed beautifully. I want it to happen more, but hopefully with time.

Wow, you're getting lots of great donations! I don't have a book to donate (yet!!), but you know you are welcome to space on my blog when you're ready to launch. I'm happy to feature you and your book in any way - just let me know what you need. :-)

Mina Lobo said...

Hey, congrats on all the giveaway stuffs, that's amazing! I missed the boat on this, alas, but it doesn't seem you're lacking for help! I guess the Blogosphere, like nature, abhors a vacuum. :-D

Looks like an awesome giveaway hop! Hope you have a good weekend! :)

Usually, my reaction is more like, "I wrote that?" (imagine recoil of horror and flush of embarrassment). However, there have been a few times where I've kind of said, "Oh, that's good!" right after finishing a line or paragraph. That's always nice.

What a great pile of loot--way to go!

Lexa,

What a super list of impressive prizes! I've decided not to do bloghops anymore...just don't have the blogging time that I used to have. Trying to get a lot of other things going, but it looks like a real winner. Good luck with your book!

How lovely to be reminded and pleasantly surprised by your own work ;)

Wow, when you do a blog hop you don't mess around. The writing community is so awesomely supportive. I love finding little lines or quotes that must have been written while I was only half awake. Cause I certainly don't remember a sudden injection of genius. :)

Shah Wharton said...

I'm so excited to be part of this... those prizes are incredible. I have three of the books, already, but there are so many other I'd love to read, let alone those critique! (We both know I love those :D)

Regarding being pleasantly surprised by my writing: I'm always stunned to read my Psychology dissertation, which scored me an A in 1999. I can't even understand my research now. And some of my poems surprise me ... I think I'm pooh, then remember one of my faves, or come up with something new and think, wow... that's pretty awesome! :) Rare, but wonderful moments. X

Wahoo! This is such an amazing hop! I would totally be participating except I might be at my dream destination during the hop--way out on the ocean or bouncing between tropical islands. Yikes.

Georgina Morales said...

This is awesome. You are killing it girl! Though I'm not surprised, you receive what you give, and you give so much Lexa. I'm sure Soul Cutter will do amazing. I just want you to know I haven't forgotten about my prize. I'm looking for the perfect piece. =) Keep rocking!
