Does this squinting-at-things happen to you, too?
On our old TV, the screen was getting fuzzier and more distorted and unstable, and that was a big strain on our senior eyeballs. But hubs went to a department store having a sale and got us a new flat screen! It's not a giant, wall-hanging one or anything, but the screen is almost twice as big as our old TV's screen, and I can't tell you what a relief that is -- no more squinting at the TV shows. Yay!
I'm probably preaching to the choir, since I bet most people have flat screen TVs by now, but my old TV was a Sony and very good quality, so we just kept it, and kept it ... and kept it ...
But no more! Now we have a great new one that I can see without squinting!! Woohoo!!

Old TV sets used to last almost forever. The new ones look incredible, but they seem much more disposable than they used to. I'm glad you can see clearly again!
Glad you got a new television! They might last a long time, but once you get a flat screen, you're spoiled by something that takes up so little room and weighs a fraction of the other one.
Your eyes will thank you. We got a big screen as a wedding present to each other (almost 27 years ago) and we'd go to other people's homes and wonder how they could even watch TV on those little sets. LOL Now we have four big flat screens in our house.
We have flat screens and I find them very nice and even though larger, they take up less room. We have a few of our older TVs in our basement because we can’t find anyone to take them.
Enjoy your new screens.
When I moved this summer, the distance between the couch and TV grew. I actually looked it up to see how distance affects screen size choice, and I'm convinced that most people don't have a TV screen large enough. I lucked out. The 55-inch was on sale and was cheaper than the 40+ and 50-inch TVs, so I got it. I'm not squinting anymore either. :)
It's hard to get rid of an old set if it's still plugging along. We have one in our bedroom that's ancient. But the newer tv in our main living room is nice and big and I love it. I'm sure your new tv will bring you joy!
It must be a relief not to squint anymore! We have a nice big flatscreen and I love it, even if I don't watch TV all that much.
Hello! I hope January and most of February has been good to you. I have some issues but hoping all will be aok from now on. Now, you know I am a big tv and film watcher and we own a 27 inch tv that i bought in 1997! It still works and all seems aok so why get rid of it. We will go to a flat screen one day but not until this one blows up..like yours did.I had a tv that did just look worse and worse-blurry wise that watching a movie felt like one was seeing it under water:)
New TVs are always exciting to get. Hubby and I got one last year.
So excited about your new TV Lexa. Something similar happened to us,but our awesome sons brought us a new one! We are so blessed. Enjoy your new TV-such a lovely treat. Have a great week.
Glad to hear you’re happy with your new TV set. I don’t have a flat screen, though I suppose when my own set finally dies I will have to buy one, as it’s about all you can get nowadays. I like to use the top to keep my remote controls on and a couple of family photos. And for now, it works fine. If I need to do something about the blur I put my glasses on. Simple! ;) (I don’t have, or need, reading glasses, do my only pair is just for long distance)
Good for you, LEXA! You deserve it. I am one of those people who upgrade my electronics every five years or so, but last year I bought a 50 inch 4K.... WOW.. It's like I am sitting in the room with the actors. AMAZING. So enjoy!!!!!
Hooray for the new screen! We got rid of cable, and Sweetie used an old monitor to watch DVDs until someone gave us a used but fabulous condition small flat screen. He is loving his, too. Now all of the squinting is over the computer screen!
We went from no TV to a big flat screen a few years ago. Now we watch far too much TV.
I have had my flat screen for a while, an older Toshiba. I did notice a big difference in quality going from the old hulk tvs to the flat screen. Glad you can see your tv again!
It is amazing how different the picture is on new tvs! Glad you don't have to squint anymore. I still don't have a flatscreen- but I only watch a limited amount of tv- so I usually watch on my computer. :)

I have a flat screen but I still squint all the time! LOL I am like the old lady in the photo for sure. Maybe I need new glasses but I think I'm so far gone they can't do anything else for me.
I'm so glad you're posting again Lexa!! I missed you when you were ill and I hope you are back to 100% now!
Flatscreens are the here and now gone are the old black and white/color tube TV sets. Technology is so disposable and replaceable in our world. Its easy to take gadgets for granted....
Haha! Congratulations on your new TV! We kept our analog TVs for a long time when everyone had the LED ones. Burglars came to our house years ago with 2 cars thinking they would get some good loot. I can imagine the looks on their faces when they saw those old TVs. LOL!
I totally get the eyesight thing. I have to use reading glasses now. :o( My family said, "You look so old with those things on!"
Have a great week!
