Celebrate: Au Revoir

"Au revoir" means until I see you again. In this case it's more of an until I'm well enough to stay upright in a chair long enough to write blog posts again.

According to the doctors and lab results, I'm "fine." Tell that to my very nauseous tummy and unhappy digestive system that have made me lose 8 kilograms (17 pounds) in the last 2 weeks. Not kidding. I spend most of my time in bed or in the bathroom.

It's very hard to sit at my laptop, so I'm off everything -- Facebook, my CPs' forum, Twitter (if you see a tweet, it's a robot, not the real me), gmail, and now Blogger. I hope you can forgive me for not commenting on your posts and, for a while at least, for not posting. Until someone figures out what's wrong with me and fixes it, I just don't have the strength to be on the net.

Oh no, Lexa. Sending you lots of healing power across the ether. I do hope the doctors are able to find the problem and 'fix' you up soon. Take good care!

I'm so sorry, Lexa. How can doctors say that you're fine!!! :( I will keep you in my heart and in my prayers. Take Care. I hope you're feeling better very soon.

Lexa, we'll pray that you get answers soon. Keep checking with different doctors until someone finds the answer.

Wow, sorry to read you are so sick. I hope the doctors figure it out, or it just goes away quickly.

I'm so sorry to hear how sick you are. Take care and I hope you get better soon.

That pisses me off that you are this sick and the dr's say you are fine. Do you have any pain when you press on your lower right or left side? Can you take the smell of food? You are nauseous and need to be near a bathroom but can you eat anything? The reason I am asking these questions is that I got really sick back in 2004, and couldn't eat much, lost weight and food did not make me happy. They only thing I could eat was oatmeal. When I was in a car the bumps made me feel like my insides were moving around. The doctors at the hospital said I was fine. I ended up having a cyst on my ovaries which burst and the poison from that cyst went throughout my body..I had , I think, pancreatitis or was it peritonitis...sad that I can't recall which one gives those symptoms. If you don't have that, drink some chamomile tea which calms the tummy and plenty of rest. Take care

Yikes! That sucks. Press those doctors to look harder or find another. You are obviously not fine and it needs to be figured out.

If you don't improve, go to a walk-in clinic. Maybe a fresh set of eyes will find the problem. Hope you feel better soon.

Get another opinion. Tests. Whatever it takes. My mother was horribly sick once and had her doctor visiting daily and not doing much, because "it will mask the symptoms" and finally, after a week, Mum insisted on going to hospital, where they told her she had pneumonia and that another day would have killed her. And that quack continued to practise medicine! It seemed she had thought Mum might have TB!

mshatch said...

Oh, Lexa I'm so sorry you're feeling so awful. I hope the doctors can figure out what's going on soon. My thoughts are with you.

Tonja Drecker said...

Oh my! Here's hoping that those doctors figure out things soon, and that you find a few more comfortable hours. Take care of yourself!

Keep advocating for yourself! My husband's doctor's couldn't figure out why he was having extremely severe headaches until he insisted on an MRI. They found a brain tumor and luckily, he was treated and is in fine shape today. Keep track of your symptoms and keep fighting for an answer.

Oh no! Poor you! Hit the multi-strain probiotics (Amazon have a great selection - not sure whether they're in Egypt?) for stronger gut health. Sounds awful. Keep bugging the docs and get well soon! X

Lexa,

Oh, my! I'm sorry you aren't well. You're in my prayers. Did you go to a gastrointestinal doctor? My first thought is Diverticitulist. That's what I suffered from in 2013 which resulted in surgery. Be well, my friend. Google your symptoms, you'll probably figure out what's going on to help you point your doctor in the right direction or to help you to decide if you need to go to a specialist. Hugs and blessings to you!

Hi Lexa. Thinking about you and praying you are up to speed soon. Hate it when doctors say you are fine when you feel terrible. Maybe the doc thinks it will run its course over time. If it doesn't keep complaining. Meanwhile, we'll keep your blog chair vacant, waiting for your return. Take care!

Hi Lexa-- hope they figure out what's wrong very soon, and you can be up and about as usual. Take care of you.

So sorry to read you are so miserable. I finally realized I hadn't seen any tweets from you.

Silly question, but "Do you still have your appendix?" Sometimes, the doctors don't consider the simplest (but very dangerous if ignored) solution. I know. When I worked in Moscow, the Embassy sent me off to the hospital suspecting just that - but there, they fiddled around for another five days and caught it just in time. Not a fun place to have had this done in 1963!

But to you, dear Lexa, best wishes and good thoughts. Please, try to get another opinion - and, most of all, get well again.

Oh my gosh, Lexa, I'm sorry to hear about your health problems! That's scary. I hope you have gone to other doctors to find more help. Maybe a nutritionist can help.

A few years ago I had stomach pain that kept me on my back for 3 weeks. Every time I would sit up, the pain would get worse. It was a burning pain with bloating. I felt full all the time. My doctor didn't know what it was. She sent me to a gastroenterologist who did an endoscopy on me and he didn't know what was wrong with me either. My doctor told me to eat mashed potatoes and pasta. I felt better with the mashed potatoes, but worse with the pasta. When I was able to walk, I went to the gym. My gym friends who are trainers are the ones who helped me figure out the problem. It was a gluten intolerance. That's why the pasta made me feel worse.

I heard that doctors only study diet/nutrition for 6% of their required schooling, so it's no wonder they couldn't help me.

Your symptoms sound different than mine, but try cutting gluten out of your diet and see if that helps. For people with gluten intolerance, the gluten damages the villi in your small intestine. The villi allows your body to absorb nutrients from food. Once it's destroyed, it takes 4 days to regrow. So, it may take longer than 4 days for you to feel better.

Some people don't know they have a gluten intolerance or they don't show symptoms. I didn't know I had it until a few years ago.

I hope you feel better soon!

Take care!
