Celebrate: Snowman Tour & Giveaways

This week I'm celebrating generous authors and reviewers:

1) I was a Guest Author at Mary Ann Poll's Facebook book release party, met a bunch of fun people, and at the end I was one of the lucky ones who'd won an ebook from her.  Yay!
2) On Twitter, a book-blogger tweeted me about reviewing BLOODWALKER. However, he wanted an audiobook and I'd given away the promo codes already. Luckily, the book's narrator was linked into our tweets and he popped up saying he had a code for it. So the book-blogger got a code for the audiobook, and the narrator got my gratitude! Double yay!

Have you ever asked for a book or a product for free from a stranger in exchange for a review?

NEW RELEASE FROM
YOLANDA RENEE
AND A GIVEAWAY!

It takes a true artist to pursue his victims in the art of seduction, and Stowy Jenkins is no exception, especially with blood as his medium.

Stowy Jenkins, aka, Stone, and as Alaskans refer to him, the Snowman, is a true artist. His muse, Gigi, is the ultimate inspiration for his painting. Her rejection inspires him to use a very unusual medium…blood.
While art may be his passion, the taste for blood is his obsession, and multiple murders, the result.
Rookie, Detective Steven Quaid, is no fan of the Snowman’s murderous exhibitions. A twisted and deadly relationship bond the two men and neither knows who will come out of it alive.

Author Bio:
At one time Alaska called to me, and I answered. I learned to sleep under the midnight sun, survive in below zero temperatures, and hike the Mountain Ranges. I've traveled from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, and the memories are some of my most valued. The wonders, mysteries and incredible beauty that is Alaska has never left me and thus now influence my writing.

Despite my adventurous spirit, I achieved my educational goals, married, and I have two handsome sons. Writing is now my focus, my newest adventure!

I've never asked for anything free, but then I don't review books unless I feel motivated. Which reminds me, I need to review Bloodwalker- awesome story, of course!

That's wonderful news about the review, I love it when things come together. And a free book too, always a cause for celebration!

I've never asked for a free book, although I have agreed to take them in exchange for honest reviews...

Yolanda is on fire with her tour and release.
That's cool your narrator passed along a code for your book.

Great that things worked out for the review of your audio book. Audios are awesome. I'm always amazed by your list of giveaways. Lexa, thanks for sharing about Yolanda's book and for being a part of her tour.

Like Elizabeth, I don't review books, thus don't ask for freebies. Have a great weekend!

I bet it felt good to win. As a kid, I always wondered why my name never was drawn. But the one time it was, I danced so happy I don't think my feet were on the ground. Yay! Happy Friday.

That was nice of Jonathan to offer a code. You do know where you can get more, though.

Very sweet of the narrator to get the code to the reviewer. Congrats to Yolanda on her release and book tour. Fun to win an ebook. I love winning things :-) Have a wonderful weekend

Awesome that your narrator gave the book reviewer the code for your book. Congrats to Yolanda on her book release.

Thanks, Lexa!

Appreciate the shout out for the Snowman Tour and giveaway! I've offered books for an honest review and always give an honest review when asked. I couldn't do it otherwise. I'm hoping to listen to Bloodwalker on my next trip to the beach! Your writing is always exciting!
Thanks again! :)

I ask for free things all the time, especially if I'm doing a Blog tour with other authors who are promoting their books. Someone once said that the ability to accept free gifts says a lot about the way you love yourself.

No, I've never offered to write a review in exchange for a free copy of a book. I am so far behind in my reviews, it's sad. A publishing company sent me an email about reading one of their books for a review in exchange for a free e-copy, but I have so much on my plate, I don't want to commit myself to another task. On the other hand, the book does sound really good. Grrrr. I need more time!

Yolanda's books are gorgeous. Love the covers. Best of luck to her in her new release.

I haven't asked a stranger for something to review, but I've gotten it from time to time for my books. Always scares the crap out of me. LOL

Nissa Annakindt said...

I've never asked anyone for anything for free. But some of my FB author friends give me stuff for free anyway. Declan Finn's given me a bunch of his ebooks, even though I'm very slow in writing reviews.
And recently author Daniella Bova actually sent me a physical book, autographed, for free. Or perhaps because I shared the announcement of her latest book release with all my FB friends.

I have always reviewed book for the newspapers, never encouraged strangers who have asked me for reviews. Nice to see Yolanda's books here.

This sounds like it could be a good book!

No, i haven't ever asked for a freebie in exchange for a review, i would feel obligated to say kind things since i got it free, and that's not the point, is it?

This is wonderful!! best of luck with the release!

Alaska is a tough place to live. You probably had lots of time to ponder new ideas for your books. Best of luck with your new release.

Rhonda Albom said...

Congrats on winning the book, and glad you narrator had a code. I am offered products and asked to review them all the time, which is the opposite of what you asked. I gave away several copies of my book for review but was never asked. However, I think yours was a reasonable request.

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Can't say I've had a great experience with people getting free copies in exchange for a review. So many of them get their free stuff then I don't hear from them ever again. No review. Sigh.

Rachel said...

I recently started reading for pleasure again and these books look like something I would enjoy. Best of luck with the release!

Sue Bursztynski said...

No, never a stranger. Publishers send me blurbs and I sometimes ask for interesting ones, but not recently. I'm way behind. Still, I do eventually come through and it's kind of nice for an author like me to suddenly find a great review of a book of mine long after I'd thought they were finished. I'm just finishing off a novel I was sent quite a while ago and the review will be up later today, all going well.

Congratulations on the free ebook and the review. Lovely how it all worked out.

Yay to the the review and lovely experiences! I know book bloggers ask for free books to review, but I've never done it myself. I'm sure they'll love it :)

Beverly Stowe McClure said...

Winning is such fun. Congrats. I'm shy about asking for free books, so seldom do it.

Sharon Himsl said...

You had a good week and the book blogger got what he wanted :) I'd be nervous about asking, but a review would certainly qualify. I can tell from Yolanda's bio she has an adventuresome spirit. Her book sounds spine chilling with all that blood.

p.s. messaged you on FB. Not sure how to contact you :)

Another great load of give-aways - I'm hoping I might win the e-books as over here in England :) I have participated in author's promotions from time to time and have received a free book in return for a review. Luckily, I've always really rated the books I've received but I think a review should always be honest without being too biting!

Thanks for all the Freebie info. I like to buy books when I can, but my appetite sometimes exceeds my budget!

Have to get on Yolanda's and your book. Could you guys slow down on your writing a little, so I can catch up?

kellyr78 said...

I enjoy reading mysteries. I've never asked, but I have been offered review opportunities.

That's really awesome about what happened on Twitter to you. It's always nice to hear social media positively affecting someone instead of the other way around.

Crystal Collier said...

Yay for Yolanda!

I have somewhat sort of asked for freebies once or twice, but only from people I knew who were already looking for reviews. I'm a great book reviewer. Just sayin'... LOL.

PlanetKimberly said...

Wow, that's great that it worked out for you with the codes. I hope he gives you a good review!

Yolanda Renée said...

Thanks again, Lexa, and everyone who stopped by and commented and entered the contest!
I just read and reviewed 20 books from my TBR list - and still I've barely made a dent! Bloodwalker is next!
