Celebrate: My Rose Glasses & Giveaways!

This week, I'm celebrating new glasses! You know those weirdos who're always putting off doctors visits? Well, I'm one -- and that includes dentists and optometrists. I've needed new glasses for about 4 years and every year my vision, particularly on my laptop, got worse. Finally I went, got the prescription, and now I have the glasses! They're rose colored. My new rose-colored glasses to make my world more beautiful!

Do you tend to put off doctors appointments? How about eyesight? Glasses, contacts, or are you a lucky 20/20 person?

New Release & Giveaway
from Cathrina Constatine!

Blurb

Peace demonstrations, sit-ins, and burning the U.S. flag following the escalation of the Vietnam War are leading to a catalyst known to the world as the Sixties, and a musical revolution, flower power, hippies, marijuana, and drugs are carrying the generations—young and old—into a new decade. All the while sixteen-year-old Mary Monroe is caught between being an innocent good girl and an autumn of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.
When her brother offers a solution to her dilemma in the form of a little pill, Mary ignores the rumba in her brain and takes a walk on the wild side. Plunged into popularity and a life she’s only imagined, she meets Michael Covington, the hot newcomer, and she’s instantly drawn in by his less than flawless exterior and bad boy sex appeal. Caught up in the danger and excitement as they drift from party to party, into underground fight clubs, and through a series of drug and alcohol fueled adventures, Mary follows her new crush into a world where young girls are never truly safe from the predators lurking in the shadows and young men are hiding from the harsh reality of war.
Feeling buzzed and as if her life is spinning out of control, Mary is assaulted by an unknown man at a party, and she’s left questioning if the enigmatic Michael is truly her hero or if he is the face behind the terrible attack. With every piece of information Mary learns about Michael, her doubts grow deeper, but with every minute she spends in his presence, so does her love.
With the war and her fear threatening to separate Mary and Michael forever, only the death of a friend, a crushing confession, and her own sensibilities can carry her over the threshold between adolescence and adulthood.

Congrats on your new rose-coloured glasses . . . I have an appt for my eye test next month and think I will have to get new ones then. I put it off because it usually takes me ages to decide on the frames!

I am the opposite, I love getting new glasses. I have so many pairs, and I still want a new pair of to go with my hair. I also don't avoid the dentist, but my teeth seem to always have problems.

It's only when you finally step out into the world with the new glasses that it becomes apparent how truly horrible the "old vision" was. I need new glasses, too--I'm horribly near-sighted--but, yeah, procrastinator!

Congratulations, Cathrina!
We have great insurance so those visits are covered. Which means I go as scheduled.

I think I'm due soon for my next eye exam. I won't put it off those because unfortunately I need stronger reading glasses.

Lexa, I need to make an eye appointment. My vision doesn't change too much from year to year but I'm beginning to notice a shift in my vision, especially when I'm on the computer. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to go anytime soon with other appointments I need to make to see an Ear, Nose, & Thorat specialist since my right ear is not 100% better and I need to get a filling (let's hope that's all I need) replaced behind my front teeth. A piece chipped off and I'm afraid biting into something too hard will break the tooth off. Now that we have insurance, I can schedule appointments. I'm happy you got new prescription glasses and can see the world better. Have a good weekend, my friend!

I put off everything but glasses - my prescription is so strong already I am blind as a bat without them so I can't put it off LOL. Love the color of your glasses! :)

Congrats to Cathrina!

I wish I were a lucky 20/20 person. Sigh. Love your new glasses ♥

Congrats to Cathrina on her new book! It sounds like a great story.

Yes, I am at that point where I need to go get glasses.

I'm pretty good at keeping up with the eye doctor and the dentist, but I avoid going to my regular doctor unless I have to. I've worn contacts since I was 15. No interest in laser surgery.

Lots of good Freebies this week.

Luv the new glasses. I put off wearing readers for years until I literally ran into a police car! Got real, real quick.

Congrats on your cool new specs! I've been wearing old-old glasses because the last pair I got in 2015 were the wrong prescription (they tried to fix it, but I gave up after feeling seasick every time I wore them). I finally got my vision checked again, and am awaiting the arrival of my new glasses. It's going to be nice to see clearly again! :)

Congrats to Cathrina on her book! I'm off to check it out! :)

Thanks for hosting - have a great weekend!

Congrats Cathrina!

Four years! Yup, that's putting it off all right! LOL I love the glasses though; they are fun!

It's always exciting to get new glasses. I have to keep up on my eyes because my sight is so bad. I have about 6 inches that's not blurry in front of my face.

Rose color is the best! Congrats on those. I'm scared to go to my opthamologist. He's going to tell me things I don't want to hear.

Congrats to Cathrina as well. Here news is great!

And thanks for posting about Sliding on the Edge. Appreciate that.

Jeff Chapman said...

Congrats on the new release Cathrina.

Yes, I avoid medical appts. Now that you have rose-colored glasses, I hope you're not going to start writing happy, light stories. : )

I've worn glasses since the fifth grade. Curiously, after losing a hundred pounds my eyesight seems to have improved.

I think that the cover matches the title perfectly!

I always put off appointments, especially the doctor. By the time I go, I always have about 50 ailments saved up and end up running way over time. I wear contacts mostly, but I love my glasses, even if the prescription is a few years old and they're not 100% perfect for my vision anymore.

Deanie Humphrys-Dunne said...

Now you can look at things through those beautiful new rose-colored glasses! Good job getting them. I"m just like you in that respect. Drs. visits are not my favorite thing at all.
Have a great week.

Hope your world looks more beautiful every day!

I'm blind without my glasses! I generally don't put off appointments.

Yeah for being able to see! I am definitely someone who puts off the dentist and doctor for as long as I can. I absolutely hate the dentist office and I know I should go more often. Luckily, I have had very few cavities in my life. I have always had 20/20 vision- though I haven't gotten my eyes examined in a long time. I know I am lucky to be able to see well. Rose colored glasses are awesome! :)

What a beautiful book cover! Thanks for the giveaway and the freebies. :)

Have a lovely weekend.

Interesting mix of books. Great premises too. Yay, for your glasses.

Yes! I can totally relate to putting off doctor appointments... ugh, I have real issues with going to any type of doctor at all, lol. It is something my husband and I have been discussing we need to be better about though. So hopefully we will follow through on that. :) Glad to hear about your lovely new glasses. And big congrats to Cathrina!

As a diabetic, I have to see the eye doctor every year, since it can lead to blindness and such. I sometimes put off getting new glasses, though. (So. Pricey.) Congrats on your new glasses! Love how they're rose-colored. Such a pretty color!

I love your new glasses! I just ordered a new pair last night. Seeing is such an amazing thing!!

I am very bad about any medical issue although I do see a dentist when I have to. I know I need to go get my eyes checked but it seems such a big step to being actually prescribed reading glasses so I keep putting it off. Maybe now the universe is telling me to go?

That is is one cool cover on the featured book. Sounds like it takes on some big themes.

Yes, I've worn glasses for distance since I was 13. I take them off a lot. Mostly use them to see the board and TV, and to drive. Now I wear them when I'm outside or the world looks hazy.

Erika Beebe said...

Lucky for me, I don't need glasses yet but if you asked me about the dentist and teeth, I put that stuff as long as I can. Great cover post :)

Beverly Stowe McClure said...

Your new glasses are gorgeous, so neat and colorful. You'll see a new world now. I'm not even going to comment on my eyes.

Congratulations on the new novel. The cover is awesome.

L.G. Keltner said...

Congratulations on the new glasses! I'm like you. It's been a few years since I got my eyes checked last. I have no excuse other than laziness. I really should get around to it some time.

LD Masterson said...

A rose colored world. We could all use that. And yes, those are two appointments I always put off. My dentist has been pushing me to have a troublesome wisdom tooth extracted but I kept stalling. This week things went south with the little sucker and I broke down and called to make an appointment. Only to find out she's on vacation for the week.

Deanie Humphrys-Dunne said...

The puppy and doggie pictures are adorable! Thanks for sharing them with us. The curly hair gives them a little extra charm (not that they needed any)
Hope you have a great week.

J.H. Moncrieff said...

For some reason, I am terrified to go to the eye doctor and dentist. I always fear the worst. I finally made myself go to the eye doctor last year, and this year, it'll be the dentist.

Because of Lasik, I have better than 20/20 vision for distance, but I am starting to need reading glasses for that super tiny white print that vitamin manufacturers love to use.

Congrats on your new rose-colored glasses!
