We've lost a number of celebrities over the past year. They will all be missed, but I have a special place in my heart for Mary Tyler Moore. Her show was on in the 70s, when I was a tween, and "Mary Richards" was one of the very few role models for girls/women that showcased a working woman, dedicated to her job, fighting her way up in a challenging field (TV producer), whose life didn't revolve around a husband or boyfriend, and who was a truly good, moral, and ethical human being.
I also loved her show because our family made a point of sitting down to watch it together over a plate of brownies we always made just for the occasion. It was a good time, an innocent time, so unlike the world today.
