Celebrate: Silly Squirrels & Giveaways

I have lots to do this week, and one thing is researching book bloggers and their reviewing policies.  I'd be a great online researcher except for my fatal flaw ---
"Oh, look! Squirrel!"

Yes, I'm easily distracted by things I stumble across.  To give you an idea what I'm going through, here are some distracting squirrels for your entertainment!

How about you?  Do you get distracted when doing online research?

I always get distracted by things online. It takes a lot of discipline to stay focused, and that isn't something I have a lot of the time.

Absolutely! It's one of the joys of research, online or otherwise. Even Helene Hanff, author of 84, Charing Cross Road, said it happened to her, and that was long before the Internet. It happens to me all the time - and was very fruitful when I discovered books at the State Library which had nothing to do with my research but made a good subject for an article in a children's magazine. You'll be looking up,something you need to know and see a link to something connected and click on the link and read the article or whatever and follow a link from *there*, right?

Admittedly, so far, not squirrels, though. ;-)

So easy to get distracted online - it's one of the reasons I've taken a break from it to work on my ms! Love those squirrels.

Thanks for the Friday humor (smile) yes, I get easily distracted online too. One click, one blink, away from research and I'm distracted... (smile) Blessings and enjoy your weekend Lexa!!

I can get sucked down internet rabbit holes like anyone else. You start off looking up something pertinent to your book, then wind up watching You-Tube videos for two hours. Not productive! I love squirrels. We don't have them in NZ, so it's always a treat to travel somewhere that has them.

My diversions are planned--yeah, planned, that's it!

Hahaaa...what cute memes! I get distracted with social media! I don't think there's a cure.

I don't surf the Internet much as a distraction. It helps that I don't get paid if I do not write my articles for work. It keeps me productive. Loved the fun pictures. Good luck with your research.

The pizza delivery one is funny.

I love research! It's during the actual writing itself that I seem to seek distraction. Write a sentence...oh, a bird!...write a sentence...I forgot to check today's weather...write a sentence *cough* maybe that's why I write so slow :)

I love the squirrel pictures. <3 I get so distracted when I try to do research, but usually by odd topics of one thing leading to another.

Hope you get your research done!

Aw! Squirrels ARE really distracting. It's them not you. :) Happy Friday!

Do you think squirrels ever look at us and think - Look, nuts! O_O

There's always something more fun i can do than what i'm supposed to do, especially if it involves computers!

Yahoo! That's my motto when it comes to actually sitting down and writing or doing research. Y=You, A=Always H=Have, O=Other, O=Options. Squirrels count as Other Options. And today I want to thank you for the diversional memes.

You bet I get distracted, particularly when I'm doing research for something. EVERYthing seems important and SO interesting!

I usually find what I'm looking for on the Internet but there are times when I'm just surfing and enjoying what I find.

Ha, ha, I love it. I got my Dad a T-shirt with the squirrel/empty bird feeder on it. He waged a constant battle with squirrels for years.
I need to work on getting more reviews, too. So many of the book bloggers are swamped, though, that it's not easy to find those still accepting books for review. Good luck with it!

Elizabeth Seckman said...

I am so bad about getting distracted. I keep telling myself I am going to make a list pf things to get done and stick with them. I make the lists, but then I still find myself scattered all over the place. I'm catching up on blog posts today, then I read you were looking up review and thought- I should look up reviews. I swear, what's up with that?

BTW, squirrels are cuter than birds. I'd set up a squirrel feeder, but my dog would like it too much.

Such cute pictures Lexa. Sometimes getting distracted is worth the trouble!

I love squirrels.

I go off on tangents when I do online research. I end up researching more and more things.

I get distracted by... everything. I will probably never finish a manuscript in my lifetime. Squirrels love to hang out in my back yard and they are so much fun to watch whenever I catch a glimpse of them!

Oh, I'm the queen of distractions... I start one project and before I know it, I'm working on five others and I still have finished the first one... LOL Squirrels are very gorgeous:)

Ha! Those squirrel images are brilliant. it reslly is so easy to get distracted online.

Ah, I love the squirrels. They're adorable. We have an occasional squirrel visitor that likes to eat the deer corn and bird seed I put out.

Yes, I'm easily distracted. When I run across something interesting, I forget what I'm supposed to be looking for. We learn that way, right?

Are you kidding, so many times I've gotten so distracted I've forgotten my original reason for the research. :)
It's a time waster of huge proportion!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Happy May!

You're pushing at an open door with this one, Lexa.

Kelley said...

I get distracted, as well. For me it's research. I start out ontopic, then veer into some tangent that's fascinating but nothing to do with why I was doing the research :|
Best to you, Lexa!

HAHA YES. All the flipping time. A lot of times when I'm writing I turn off the internet b/c it's the only way to keep me focused!

Heather R. Holden said...

Aw, those squirrels are adorable. And haha, yeah, I'm easily distracted sometimes, too. Hard to imagine anyone who isn't, thanks to all the shiny things online, LOL. Good luck staying focused this week!

These were so fun! I do get distracted online when I am researching or doing work. So much to see and learn out there- or just notice in general. :)

Also, my research efforts also get distracted often.

Online is full of squirrels. They seem to chase across my screen every time I try to get anything done.

Lexa, yes I get distracted with online research. These squirrel images are just too cute, so I can see why it was so easy to get your mind off track. lol Thanks for the smiles today. I'm playing catch up and I just wanted you to know how much your loyalty & support in visiting me all last month meant. Here's hoping I'll be back to my normal blogging routine soon!
