Author: T. F. Walsh

T.F. Walsh emigrated from Romania to Australia at the age of eight and now lives in a regional city south of Sydney with her husband.  Growing up hearing dark fairytales, she's always had a passion for reading and writing horror, paranormal romance, urban fantasy and young adult stories.  She balances all the dark with light fluffy stuff like baking and traveling.

Tania is one of my brilliant CPs.  I read Cloaked in Fur several times as she worked to make it the best book possible -- and it is!  With a tough, impetuous heroine, exciting action, and a very romantic leading man, this book will delight anyone who loves Paranormal Suspense, Dark Fantasy, or Action/Adventure.  Buy it and see for yourself! ~ Lexa Cain

Excuses why I'm not writing and my (better) self arguing!

Me:  It's too hot out.  I hate summer.
Myself:  That's why you have the air conditioner, dummy.
Me:  I have too many other responsibilities and not enough time.
Myself:  Waaa-waaa-waaa. Plenty of writers are busier than you and they're getting books written.
Me:  I'm not sure it's good enough.
Myself:  What? The empty screen isn't good enough?
Me:  No, I mean my WIP, my idea, my writing...
Myself:  If you don't keep going, you'll ever know.
Me:  But I've been writing a bit during the past month, and I didn't come close to my goal!
Myself:  Don't focus on what you didn't accomplish; focus on what you did.
Me:  But ... but ... but ...
Myself:  In the time you've wasted coming up with excuses, you could've written a page or two.  JUST DO IT!!

Your inner voices sound just like mine... Except mine keep telling me it's too cold to write. Which it really is.

That cat is scary.. I'm off to do some writing...

Congrats to Tania!! I'm so super happy for her!

We've all heard that inner voice! I believe it is sent to test us, you'll get back into it I'm sure. You don't want another visit from the 'scary cat'

Congrats to Tania on her book release.

Congrats to Tania! So happy she made it across the finish line!

I see I'm not the only one arguing with myself. So funny! Thanks for the peek inside your head. I'm off to focus on what I did accomplish.

I haven't read anything in ages, but 'Cloaked in fur' sounds like something I could enjoy.

Congratulations, Tania!!!
Now write, damn it - you don't want that furry beast coming after you.

Ahh, those excuses sound so familiar:) And I love that giant cat.

Thanks so much for hosting me today... It's such an awesome feeling to see your book in so many places...

That is one scary looking cat! LOL

Congrats to TF Walsh on her new release. It sounds good.

Nothing makes a writer feel better than writing. Feeling insecure? Write. Feeling down? Write. Feeling worried about your writing career? Write!
In other words: WRITE!!!

Congrats to Tania. I can so relate to what you're saying. So busy this last month and I accomplished very little writing wise. I do think if you work that you have to recognize there are times when life is too busy, especially if you have a family too. So don't be too hard on yourself.

Yep, I have that argument with myself most mornings. There are so many distractions in the summer. And it is hot. It's not Africa hot where I am, but it's hot. Kind of melts your brain a little on the bad days. But no more excuses! Your crit partner has a book out (lovely by the way) and you need to get moving on your next one too. You could write about how the sun melted everyone's brains and turned them into zombies. Just an idea. :)

I loved the internal argument- because I have similar conversations with myself. :)

How wonderful that you got to read Cloaked in Fur through its different stages. The MC sounds like an amazing woman! I like strong females and from the blurb she has quite a decision to make. Wishing Tania lots of success and happiness. :)

Cloaked in Fur sounds great! I love that you helped out on the process~ Congrats Tania!

I love this post Lexa-the self doubt always seems to have so much to say! Shutting it off is the best way to keep going! Thanks for sharing-it felt like you were sharing my thoughts-great post!

LOL! That books sounds fantastic! And man does that conversation ever sound familiar. We all think it, right?

Julie Flanders said...

Okay the cat scared the heck out of me. I'll start writing now!

I've been seeing Cloaked in Fur all over and it really looks like a fantastic read.

Wooo hooo for Tania! Love seeing her everywhere.

Excuses are easy to come by, aren't they? Darn internet...

Myself is awesome! Happy IWSG Day!

Congrats to Tania!

I think we all have an internal dialogue that sounds similar to that fairly often. When our WIP is clicking along nicely, no problem. When we hit the bump... look out.

stephen Hayes said...

I must find time to do more reading. This book would be a good start.

Christine Rains said...

Yay for Tania! The book is fantastic. I sound that way sometimes too when talking to myself. I need a big cat to glare at me to write. :)

Stina said...

Awww. Is kitty a little upset? Must be the heat.

Great cover! TF must be jumping up and down now that the book is finally out.

PK HREZO said...

OMGosh that cat!!! I love the sound of moonwolfs. I bet it's fab. Werewolves always get my vote. And I agree to look at how far you've come instead of how far we have to go. :)

Just keep swimming (or walking very slow like a tortoise :))We're never good enough, except when we are. And Lexa, you are! Write that story!

BTW - there's something wrong with your cat! ;)

Charmaine Clancy said...

I am on a kick to read more Aussie writer so I'll try this... I had more to say but can't get the exploded cat out of my head.

Yep, I have that dia-mono-logue regularly. That photo is amusing and kinda creepy. It's a cat? Yikes.

Be well, and keep faith, Lexa.

sources tell me to stop wondering if that's jacob in the cover... haha! tf is doing awesome and totally killing it!

Interesting premise. It kind of reminds me of the paranormal equivalent of a very scary film I saw recently: The Gray--about guys being tracked my timberwolves.

Yikes! That furry beast could scare anybody into writing mode...
Congrats to Tania!

Hi Lexa,

I'm delighted to note that T.F. has arrived on your blog. Okay, not literally. A book worth reading fur sure. And fur sure, because I'm such an amazing dude, I share your posting on all those social networks, yep, even 'Farcebook.'

Based on your musings on "IWSG", affectionately known as "I Was Seeking Gary", one could write a story about excuses not to write. Thank you and I'm going now. Oh, before I go, nice pink fluffy hat, T.F.! :)

Gary :)

Anonymous said...

That's what "myself" looks like before coffee...just as snippy, too:)

Anonymous said...

Haha... I love that hat... I still wear it:)

Shah Wharton said...

Wow - that cat is scary! Lol. Loved the sound of that book, and I bought my sister a hat just like that one (only rainbow coloured) for Christmas. :) I make those excuses (and then some) every day. *Groan. There's always something else to do for an indie. Although you're posh with a publisher and everything so probably wouldn't know :P

That cat will steal your breath in the middle of the night if you don't get back to writing. Cats can do that you know. :)

I love "Cloaked In Fur." What a super title. Also may I borrow that cat? I need motivation, but fear will work too.

J.L. Campbell said...

Kudos to T.F. and here's hoping you get some writing done soon. Enjoy the weekend.

Cherie Reich said...

Congrats to T.F.!

And it does help to focus on what you did accomplish as opposed to what you didn't. I'm sure you'll get back to writing more. :)

Jocelyn Rish said...

Congrats to T.F.!

Your "me" and my "me" should totally get together and come up with all the excuses in the world ever. :-)

And good grief that cat is scary! *runs to open WIP doc and starts writing*

Carol Kilgore said...

Perfect post! I have this argument with myself all the time. But I'm getting to work so that monster cat doesn't ring my doorbell!

Heather Musk said...

Hmm, a conversation with oneself that sounds all too familiar. I particularly like the line about focusing on what you have done, rather than what you haven't.

Anonymous said...

I just did it this morning. I opened my document, even though I had laundry and a bunch of other things to do, plus I was recovering from a headache. Just do it, yes. :)

Yay for Tania. I have a copy of her book.

Unknown said...

That's right. Just write. Or the scary kitty will get you. O_O

Misha Gerrick said...

Hahahaha yeah I know that feeling. This sort of thing happens to me too every so often. Especially when I'm rewriting.

Hope you find your groove soon. :-)

Cathy Keaton said...

That is an angry kitty.... I wish I had those reasons for not writing. It's a lot better than not writing because you're out of your mind with illness.

Mina Lobo said...

LOL, well spoke, on the excuses for not writing! :-)
