Genre Favorites Blogfest

Today is Alex J. Cavanaugh's Genre Favorites Blogfest day.  Just list your favorite genre of Movie, Music, Books and add a "guilty pleasure."  That's so easy even I can do it.
Movie: Horror
Music: 80s pop
Books: Horror
Guilty pleasure: Serial killer and
"I Survived" type documentaries
(Yeah, I sound like one fun lovin' gal, don't I?)

That sounds a lot like me! I love horror everything and love to watch documentaries on serial killers, but I guess my guilty pleasure would be watching Dancing With the Stars... =)

Thanks for commenting on my blog!

Seems we have a lot in common! Horror is my fictional life!

80s music gets me through some really tough gym workouts. There's nothing like Footloose to get me running faster!

Aw, I would have liked to have read at least one example of the '80s pop you like, Lexa. :)

80's pop music is still fun to listen too. I turn it on when I'm cleaning.

I'm a new follower!

Horror? Really? I admit, I'm surprised. But it goes along with your guilty pleasure, I think. Those true stories always give me the creeps. But I do love Stephen King and Dean Koontz and Charlaine Harris...hey, that's horror, isn't it?

I love, love, love 80s pop! Great picks!

80s pop is cool, but horror totally scares me! I'm running for the blankets!

I love the 80s and horrow movies, too.

What a unique guilty pleasure!!

I think that you are quite addicted to horror. I am not a horror kind of person, I get scared from nothing and if I have seen something scary, my sleep patterns are in trouble :)

Really love 80's pop though!

I like 80s music too, and we watch "I survive" documentaries too. They are inspiring

I enjoy some '80s pop too- some of those old music videos can be amusing to watch. Remember that hair?!

Dianne K. Salerni said...

Ha! My guilty pleasure is true crime stories. Pretty similar!

I definitely love 80s music, including pop :)

I don't mind horror but I wouldn't say it's what gets me going :D

Hi, thanks for visiting my blog! I'm not the biggest fan of 80s music, lol, but I love horror movies. The first one I saw was Carrie. :D

Wow! I love the vibrant look of your blog!
I love 80's pop too. I was supposed to see Duran Duran again in concert a few weeks ago but they cancelled!

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who mentioned 80s music today!!

I'm #173.

I'm surprised how many people have picked horror as their favourite genres.

We have such similar tastes... I love 80s pop... hubby always pays me out for this:)

I read a ton of horror when I was a teen and in my early twenties. 80s Pop is the best. It was my pick for music too.

I had to watch too much horror in films and tv with my Mom. Everyone else was in bed. Now, however, there is horror in scifi too, as with Alien. . .and Prometheus.

Dropping by via the Genre Blogfest. I'm a scifi nerd, with a dash of suspense.

80's pop and horror - what a contrast!

What are your fave 80's pop groups?

unikorna said...

You are a lotta fun..I am also a horror freak :). The blogging critique sounds very intriguing...I might be very interested :). Kisses.

Nice! And for some reason, 80's pop and horror go together in my book. The 80's had SUCH great pop music, and as I recall, it was definitely the peak of awesomely campy horror flicks and books!

Too fun. :)

Anyone who likes 80's POP can't be all bad ... LOL. You have a terrific sense of humor. Hi, Lexa, nice to meet you. Dropping in for the blogfest.

I think homicidal maniacs are interesting. I mean... What can possible be going through their minds? What happened to them? What pushed them OVER THE EDGE?

Horror is always good when done well. Funny, sometimes when it isn't done well it can be fun. Have you ever watched "Blood on the Highway?" It's a comedy horror with vampires and ridiculously funny blood splatters.

Some soundtracks I am good to go on, but like your hubby, I have also been known to roll my eyes as if I were possessed.

Following you. Cheers.

First of all, I love your banner! And hooray for another YA horror/thriller writer! And you live in Egypt which is the number one place to visit on my bucket list? Awesome!

Love your list since my favorites run to horror and 80's music made my list too.

I enjoyed reading about your favorite genres,
Jocelyn

I enjoy watching SOME horror movies, sometimes I have to look away though! Too scary! But I really really like reading horror books! Great post! :)

Tamara said...

hehe...LOVE your answers. And it's SO cool that you live in Egypt. That must give you great atmosphere to write in. :)

P.S. I didn't realize who you were until I looked around your site a bit more. I remember you from both Write On and either GUTGAA or CAGI. I've seen your query/first pages and they're really awesome. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I'm also interested in serial killer documentaries and books.

I go through phases of heavily listening to 80s pop. I love the stuff.

Horror is such a great genre! Love it. And 80's music? I'm such an 80's girl. ;)

I enjoy a sweet romance with a little humor. 50's music for me, especially Elvis.

James Garcia Jr said...

Hi, Lexa. So, a little horror maybe? *grins* As a horror writer, it was cool to see the genre mentioned a bit in the blogfest. Thanks for sharing.

I love 80's music... definitely one of the best music decades. Horror? Eeeeek! *hides face*

Nickie said...

Ooooh, how fun! I also have nothing but love for 80's pop (even the terrible, synth-y stuff).
Hmm, for me, it would be:

Movie: Comedies, especially ones with the Muppets.
Music: 70's and 80's rock (think Zeppelin)
Books: Pretty much anything that's heavy on action and light on romance.
Guilty pleasure: America's Next Top Model. I don't know why, but it's highly addictive.

Hi Lexa!

Sorry for posting this here, but I couldn't find an email address on your site!
Just wanted to thank you for leaving a comment on my blog under the Taste of Fear contest. I mentioned I would give away five copies of the book. And since only 8 people left comments, it was easy to pick the winners! lol
Anyway, if you can send me your email, I can send you a Kindle version or whichever you prefer?
Thanks!
Jeremy

I have so many great memories of 80's music! That was the decade I graduated college, got married, and had my first child. The blog critique sounds like a great idea! I know that mine needs a lot of work, but I may need to wait for spring cleaning. Julie

I can't do horror and sleep, so I'm a Disney freak who loves the singing penguins and the lions who are kings . . . stuff like that. Fluffy should be my middle name.
