Hauntings & Celebrate

The Hauntings are Coming!

This week I'm celebrating:
1)  I've been pre-writing my posts for the A-Z Challenge, and I've reached #17 (out of 26).  *happy dance*  If I keep this up I'll actually be done with them before April. Yay!
2)  I had to stop working on my WIP to do the posts, but it's good to step back sometimes.  I've thought up ways to fix things that have been niggling at me.
3)  My A-Z theme will be "Hauntings."  I'll be posting about haunted places around the world.  Who doesn't like a good ghost story?
4)  I had some dental problems last week and the dentist put me on Mucho-Mambo Meds.  (Yes, that's an official brand name ... or it would be if you were on them.)  They made me pretty loopy -- which I probably enjoyed a little too much.  Heh-heh-heh.

Have you ever been on prescribed meds that made you loopy?  Did it bother you or did you kinda enjoy it?

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is follow the link and put your name on the Mr.Linky list, and then be sure to post every Friday about something you're grateful  for that week.  It can be about writing or family or school or general life.  This is the funnest and easiest blog hop ever!

I love ghost stories - what a great theme! I can't take those Mucho Mambo Meds, the side effects are worse than the pain!

Mucho-Mambo meds sounds like something you'd get from the witch doctor!

I remember my sister and I both getting teeth extracted for braces at the same time. We came home from the oral surgeons high as a kite, which is the only way to be when you've got a mouth full of cotton gauze and blood dripping down your chin.

Ooo, I love to read about haunted places!
Much Mambo Meds sound divine. I'm so stressed out right now I could probably use some ;)

I had some pain killers after my c-section that made me so itchy I wanted to scratch my skin off. I don't remember being loopy, though. (My husband might say otherwise.)

I love the theme of your A to Z Challenge. I'll be following your updates for sure. I'll be participating with my blog Traveling Cats as well.

Looking forward to your ghostly postings. If I was as far ahead with my scheduling I'd most certainly be doing a happy dance too. Not quite there yet, but there's still plenty of time. Right? Right?!

Benadryl makes me loopy. I dip into coma on anything stronger. LOL

Good for you. I'm a fan of writing blog content ahead of time, even when it's not April.

Love your theme for A to Z!! I'd rather have another C-section then go to the dentist. However I knocked out my 2 front teeth years ago in an accident. I've had sooo many teeth issues and drugs make me sick...

Luanne G. Smith said...

Ooh, I do love a good ghost story. And, yeah, I went through my own thrilling dental problems recently, though I didn't get the good meds that make you loopy. Hope you're feeling better. :)

Hi, Lexa. OMG! (It took me a year to find out what that meant - I hope I am right).
Getting a new computer was worth almost alone to get into your FABULOUS website! What a find - especially for one who writes about Ancient Egypt. I am going to spend some time exploring all your treasures - but meantime, forget the meds to get loopy; open a bottle of Champagne to Celebrate!

Ooh what a great theme!! I can't wait. Good luck getting the rest of your posts done! :)

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Hauntings! That sounds awesome.
Sorry about the dental stuff.

Carol Kilgore said...

Hope your dental troubles are now history. Have fun with your A-Z theme - I'd love to read them ... and I may pop over and do just that - but anonymously. I'm going to be officially on a blog break and crunching on my edit. But I can read one little blog a day. Right?

Nana Prah said...

Interesting them. I'm not into ghosts, but I have a friend who is, so both of us will be stopping by in April.

SK Anthony said...

I totally would enjoy that loopyness also lol
And lemme say this: oooooooooooooh! Hauntings! I like it :D

Have fun finishing the posts. I finished mine while taking a break from revisions, and like you the time apart gave me some answers I had to figure out. Woot!

Hauntings! Tingles all around! You're my idol for doing the A-Z challenge. That's a whole lot of blogging! It seems a smart idea to get a head start. I'll be sure to stop back and check out some April posts!

Kate Larkindale said...

What a great theme! I can't wait to see what you come up with.... I'm not sure I've ever had any legal drugs that made me loopy. Yet.

Magaly Guerrero said...

Who doesn't like a good ghost story indeed! I'm excited about reading what you'll bring in April. ;-)

OMG! Lexa, how did you know? After the dengue fever of last week I'm very much loopy as still drugged out on pain and fever meds.

I once took a pill for back pain and all night I hallucinated that I was on a roller coaster with Oprah! It was terrifying. She just wouldn't shut up!

Ava Quinn said...

Ooooh, hauntings! Love it! And lol! Mucho Mambo Meds! Trademark that sucker right now!

Glad you got a bunch of posts done and you made progress on your wip! I have about half of my posts scheduled. And not enough done on my wip. sigh.

Joylene Nowell Butler said...

I'm hoping you're right, Lexa. I'm doing the A-Z challenge as a step-back too. Hope it rejuvenates my WIP.

Oooh, I love stories about haunting! Excellent choice. Have a wonderful weekend. :)

Hauntings sounds like a great theme! I'm looking forward to visiting here in April.

Cathy Keaton said...

Sounds like a great theme! Can't wait to read about haunted places all over the world, even though I don't really believe in hauntings. But, it is really exciting, nonetheless.

I hope your dental issues get cleared up soon! I have them myself, but nothing that has required pain meds. Last time I was on them, I just didn't feel or remember anything. I was more or less a robot during that time, so, meh....

Deanie Humphrys-Dunne said...

Hope you're feeling better, Lexa and not needing the Mucho Mambo Meds. They do sound like a powerful dance!
Great job on pre-writing your posts and getting a theme! I think the theme would be the hardest thing to dream up.
Happy weekend.

Hi Lexa,

Sorry to read about your dental problems. Hope it gets better very soon. Your theme is haunting me. Spooky or what :)

I have been on several different types of antidepressants. I've turned into a guinea pig. A loopy guinea pig who is sort of enjoying trying to type almost coherently.

As for the dreaded A to Z. One moment, please.....argghhhhh!!!!!! make it STOP!

Take care and look after yourself, Lexa.

Gary :)

Woohoo! Ghost stories! That sounds great, and congratulations on getting so far along on your posts! I have several more to kick out tonight, and hopefully I'll be right there with you come April!

Absolutely love your theme for the A-to-Z challenge, Lexa! I've always been intrigued by hauntings...

Oooh. I love haunted places. That is an excellent theme for the A to Z.

Having migraines, I have been on plenty of meds that made me loopy. The ones I liked best were the ones that knocked me out and allowed me to sleep a little bit. When I was awake and loopy... not so much. Ha!

J.L. Campbell said...

Love this masthead. I'm not much for haunted places and such, but since I'm sure you probably have some Egyptian sites in there, I'll have to come. :)

Stephanie Faris said...

OMG!!! I'm going to have to read all of yours. I love ghost stories. My first book--the one that landed me an agent--was about young ghost hunters. It still hasn't sold (probably won't now that everyone else has written books about it, so it seems!). I need to pre-write my A to Z posts, too. That's an awesome idea.

Jeff Chapman said...

Looking forward to the ghost story entries. I might find some inspiration. : ) Did you try to write when you were loopy?

Anonymous said...

Your A2Z posts are going to be great -- can't wait.

DMS said...

Awesome that you are getting so much done for A-Z! Also, I like that the time away from your ms has helped you work out a few parts. Your theme sounds like such fun! Can't wait to check out your entries. :)

Hope your teeth are feeling better!

Great job on the A-Z posts. You're more than halfway there. And who doesn't want to read about hauntings? As long as it's not before bed. :-)

I've never taken really strong prescription drugs, but mucho-mambo meds sounds like it would be fun. Taking those and writing about hauntings should produce some quite entertaining posts. :-)

T.F. Walsh said...

I love hauntings and ghost stories, so I can't wait to see all your posts:) Did you try writing while on the meds to see what you wrote? Maybe that's just me hehe

My friend is doing the A-Z challenge and like yourself, Lexa, it has been keeping her quite busy! I love everything about ghosts, apparitions and haunted tales so I will be interested in reading some of your posts. As far as the meds go, I've taken several which have made me loopy but the craziest was anesthesia. I couldn't believe how I was able to close my eyes and then what seemed to be minutes later, I woke up hours later! Spooky!

Haunting posts sound good. I will be looking forward to that.

Had a rough time with some meds a few years ago. Going up and down stairs was scary. And then to make matters worse, I had to gradually get off the meds and couldn't just stop. Not good.

Hauntings seem a thrilling theme!

Congratulations on your A to Z Challenge. I love ghost stories. They're such fun to read. Sounds like fun. :)

Oooo, dental work - yuck! Sometimes those loopy-making drugs are the only way through. Congrats on pre-writing your A to Z posts. I haven't been brave enough to join in the Challenge.

Fascinating and *shivery* theme indeed, will look forward to each post with interest! Good on you for finishing so many posts :)

I love your theme.

I don't like being on meds. As soon as the pain is gone, I can't wait to get off them. They slow me down.

Happy writing on the WIP and A to Z fronts.

Cecilia Robert said...

Woot! Great theme, Lexa! :D I won't be able to take part this year, but I'll hope around to read what everyone's posts. :)
Yep, my doc prescribed some meds that made me feel loopy for a while, until nausea hit! It was fun for a while though...lol

Denise Covey said...

Lexa, what a cool theme! Nothing like a ghost story or 26!!

Jay Noel said...

I think that's what I need to do...work on some A-Z posts!

Crystal Collier said...

Yikes! Keep at it. I finished my posts about a week ago, but I definitely started on them much later than intended. It was great to be able to balance writing them around editing and everything else. (Thank you calendar!)

I personally happen to ADORE ghost stories. =)

Jocelyn Rish said...

Ouch, sorry about your dental problems, but hooray for fun drugs! :-) Oooh, hauntings sounds fun as an A-Z theme. That's awesome that you've made such good progress on them already. Looks like I'll be winging it AGAIN this year. Story of my life. :-)

Looks like you have a lot to celebrate. Sorry to hear about the dentist. Enjoy the rest of your celebration.

Ooo, hauntings. I love reading about the spooky, creepy, definitely-something-moving-in-the-shadows places, though I would never step foot in one myself. I'm looking forward to reading.

Here's to Hauntings! Can't wait. As to drugs. . .I got lost once on something the doctor prescribed and I was only going from his office to my car! Thank goodness I had a friend who drove me. She retrieved me from the parking lot where I was wandering, looking for heaven knows what. Never took that again.

Ooh, I LOVE your theme!

A haunting theme sounds good! yes, I was on loopy meds for more than a month after my knee surgery. Must admit, I got rather attached to them but I did wean myself off of them!!!
